Cecil County Dragway Makes Mid-Season X275 Rule Changes

In the most recent months at Cecil County Dragway there has been a lot of talk about just how dominant a certain combination could be. The X275 class has progressed so quickly, not just at Cecil County, but nationwide, that it’s created quite a stir amongst the governing bodies and ultimately has led to mid-season rule revisions. Some may feel that racers were singled out with the decision but only time will tell to see how the racers adjust to the revisions. To see all the feedback to the rule controversy check the recent thread on Yellowbullet.

Rule revisions mid season usually come under much scrutiny from racers and fans, but Cecil County Dragway stepped up to try and level the playing field in the X275 ranks. Recently the class has been dominated by the Bruder brothers and their ProCharged Mustang and it seems that they will be most affected by the rule change. If you look at the rules as listed with the current changes you will see that the billet heads and sheet metal intake setups have been banned when used with the F1X supercharger.

  • SUPERCHARGERS:
Cog or gear driven superchargers are permitted, must meet all
factory inlet, outlet, and internal housing dimensions. Inserts or reducers to
achieve inlet or outlet dimensions prohibited. Any type intercooler is
permitted. Supercharger cannot be combined with nitrous oxide. Roots
superchargers are limited to a 10-71. Centrifugal superchargers are permitted.
Screw superchargers are not permitted. Billet head/sheetmetal combo
    prohibited on F1X – XB105 supercharger.

Another area of change is to minimum weights. Weight has been added to supercharged and nitrous combinations as seen below.

  • Single F1R/ Novi 2500/Xi/10-71 Supercharger (small block billet
    head/sheetmetal intake) 3350 lbs)
    Single F1X/XB105 Supercharger (small block
    cast intake/head) 3375 lbs
  •  Small Blocks (NOS only) cast tunnel ram/sheet metal/2 carbs or 2 throttle bodies:
    add 100 lbs

What will it take for the affected racers to get back to the top of the field? We’ll see this Saturday as Cecil County holds their monthly Street Car Shootout. Some are saying that racers like the Bruder’s will bounce back and go just as quick as they had previously with another new combination.
