One of the oldest sayings in drag racing when it comes to selling products is, “win on Sunday, sell on Monday”, and that still holds true today. With all of the different options for performance parts out there, racers want to make sure their hard-earned money is going toward a proven product. Pro Torque and their torque converters doubled-down on the age-old motto during the NMRA Super Nationals race held recently at National Trail Raceway by filling the winners circle with their products — twice in the Street Outlaw class.
The NMRA Super Nationals was shaping up to be a pretty big event, but with the rain-shortened Ford Motorsports Nationals eliminations from Pennsylvania being added to qualifying, the race took on extra meaning. To set the stage for the finals of the Ford Motorsports Nationals in Street Outlaw, Vinnie Palazzolo defeated Manny Buginga and Charles Greathouse defeated Ronnie Diaz in the semfinals. In the money round, Palazzolo and his Pro Torque EV1-equipped Mustang got the win over Greathouse’s KBX Performance-built machine for the first half of the two race sweep.
The road to the NMRA Super Nationals crown was a tough one, as the weather was unseasonably hot, making the track tricky for all the Street Outlaw class racers. Ronnie Diaz made his way to the final, where he had to square off against the always-tough Charles Hull. In the end, Hull’s Bennett Racing Engines-powered Mustang that also uses the EV1 torque converter got the win over Diaz, completing the Pro Torque event sweep.
With these kinds of accomplishments at the track, it’s easy to see why Pro Torque has been moving a lot of converters each Monday after any given race weekend.
