The latest new car news in Top Fuel action is the debut of the Hennen Motorsports Top Fuel Dragster on Monday after the O’Reilly Spring Nationals in Houston, Texas. This Denton, Texas based team kept their hot rod a secret but the word is out after a successful test session which included two half-track passes. This is a dream come true for driver Kebin Kinsley, who not only drives the car, but has spent the last six months building it at his shop in Arlington, Texas.
Kinsley, otherwise known as the “Wild Child”, comes from a long and successful career piloting everything from Top Fuel Hydros on water to Nitro Nostalgia Funny Cars on the strip. Kinsley’s career is highlighted by countless drag boat Championships, along with two NHRA National Event wins and four NHRA Division 4 event wins in Top Alcohol Funny Car. In 2013, Hennen & Kinsley competed in the Outlaw Fuel Altered series where they took home four event wins on the eight race tour and set top speed of the season in their “Nitro Junkie” AA/Fuel Altered. Team owner, Roger Hennen, couldn’t have been happier with the way the team’s success in their first outing in drag racing’s elite class, Top Fuel.
“This team was put together over the winter and the crew has done a fantastic job assembling the car. We took our time and made this car as safe and up to date as possible, sparing no expense to provide a chassis and engine combination that will prove to be a contender in NHRA competition. We are an independently funded team, currently searching for sponsorship. Right now, we plan to complete Kebin’s license upgrade and spend this spring and summer testing to get more familiar with the car and the servicing routines. Our ultimate goal is to make our national event debut this fall at our home event in September at the Texas Motorplex,” said Hennen.
The Hennen Motorsports Top Fuel Team would like to thank Kallita Motorsports, Safety Boost, Red Line Oil, Classic Fiberglass, Clark Brothers Paint and Body and MFS Storage Solutions for their support so far.
