Official Release

New engine block for Small-Block Chevy: World Products’ launches Motown II, a new cast iron engine block that is also available with bolt pattern for LS cylinder heads and the taller LS deck height.

World Products has introduced a new cast iron small block for the Chevrolet. It is called the Motown II, and it incorporates many new features, including priority-mains lubrication system, accommodation for stronger 55 mm camshafts, improved oiling for the camshaft bearings and lifters, and a new central internal machining location that eliminates “stacked tolerances,” a detriment in all production blocks.

Equipped with SBC or LS motor mounts, the new Motown II engine block can be configured at the foundry as either an SBC or an LS type. The SBC version uses the conventional deck height of 9.025 inches and accepts any 17-bolt small-block Chevy head; the LS version uses the conventional 9.240 deck height and accepts all LS cylinder heads.

Using standard SBC crank, cam bearings, and ignition, the Motown II weighs approximately 190 pounds—75 pounds less than GM’s LSX iron block. It is available in Street, Sportsman, or Race series (SBC), bare or fully race-prepped. The Street and Race blocks are supplied with bore sizes of 3.990 or 4.115 inches and the Prepped blocks to 4.000 or 4.125 inches. The Motown II can be bored safely to 4.200 inches.
