After taking their Mustang all the way to the top of the Outlaw 10.5 record books and even catching some airtime on the SpeedTV show ‘Pass Time,’ Steve Petty and Tim Lynch sold the car off to the Gil Christy race team, where it’s now being raced by TJ Kasper. Left with an empty garage bay where the ‘Stang formerly resided, Tim Lynch, Steve Petty and the crew at Skinny Kid Race Cars quickly got to wrenching on their new car – a 2010 Corvette Z06 (Guess Tim isn’t just a Mustang guy, eh?).
This high profile project has seemingly been kept under lock and key for quite some time, but luckily for us curious followers, Skinny Kid Race Cars posted up some teaser pics on their Facebook page
The pictures speak for themselves, this car is flat-out badass as we all expected. In the engine bay however, it’s rumored that there’s a similar engine combo to what they ran last year. A fully custom 670 cubic inch monster with twin turbos (size varying depending on what rules they’re racing under at that particular event) as well as that sweet new intake that Todd Berry has developed for this car, which fairly closely resembles what he runs on his own “little” 632.
If you can get beyond staring at the massive engine package or the downright smooth front clip and body work, check out these neat new-ish wheels from Mickey Thompson that this ride is rolling on, a set of Pro-5 ET’s, that we’ll also see on the Worlds Fastest Drag Radial pump gas car in the near future. Will this car have what it takes to win, or better yet, break this team’s own 10.5 records? With legendary tuner Steve Petty and talented wheelman Tim Lynch getting her down the 1320, it’s very likely.
