Hemi cars are just way cool. Even to those who bleed blue or proudly wear their bowties, the factory Hemi Super Stock cars of the late 1960’s and other classic Mopars are revered automobiles. They are looked upon as works of art and the true definition of the term “muscle car.” George Bryce is the founder of Star Racing and six-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle championship-winning owner and crew chief. He posted some photos over at Yellow Bullet of his personal street-driven , Torch Red, 1968 Hemi Super Stock replica that recently rolled out of his B2 Hemi Cars shop.

A sweet ride it is, indeed…and Bryce couldn’t be happier. “This Dart is a dream come true. I wanted one for 30 years…and I always wanted to do one different, but keep the Hemi heritage,” he said. B2 Hemi Cars is a conglomeration between Bryce and Ray Barton – a name that is virtually synonymous with Hemi Super Stock racing, and Barton’s son David. Their unique partnership aims to build and offer a limited number of 10 custom, hand-crafted 1968 Dodge Dart and Chrysler Barracuda Super Stock replicas. Bryce’s Dart, like all of the B2 cars, features a limited edition, Barton-built, 572 cubic inch Hemi powerplant. It includes an aluminum block and Mopar cylinder heads, 10.5:1 custom forged rods, Barton flat tappet mechanical camshaft, and topped with dual 770 CFM modified carburetors atop a custom Barton magnesium intake manifold. In addition, the exhaust system features custom TTI headers and NitroPlate oval tubing by SpinTech.
The big block Hemi is backed by a 7-56 Tranzilla with a RAM dual disc hydraulic clutch. The B2 cars ride on coil over front suspension, with CalTrac Mono Leafs and Traction Bars out back, where a 9” Strange Engineering Race Rear with 3” axles and a 3.89:1 gear ratio resides.
As we all know, the classic Mopars in their original form can not only be difficult to acquire, but very expensive to restore or purchase as original or already restored. As such, Bryce and Barton chose to build these cars as replicas, and they have done a masterful job that would make all but the most anal of collectors proud.
The bodies are made from plugs supplied by Year One, and also feature composite fenders and hood with the famous Hemi Super Stock hood scoop. Bryce stated that hundreds of hours went into the fitting of the body and alignment of the panels to produce as perfect a replica as possible. These cars come with all the creature comforts that allow its owners to enjoy their wheel-standing ride, complete with full leather interior, air conditioning, and power windows, steering, and brakes. As well, the B2 is fully approved by the NHRA, with a certified roll cage, driver restraints, fire walls, and other safety features that make it ready to hit the track.
B2 promises 9-second quarter mile times, two second 0-60, five second 0-100, and pro-touring handling and stopping power from these beauties, proving they are certainly more than just a show piece.
