The Drag Radial cars have been making some impressive showings lately, appealing to those who want to see some of the baddest cars that still appear to be street legal. We’ve known for quite some time that chassis such as the Mustang and Camaro have been proven time and time again, but who wouldn’t like to see something a little stray from the norm?
Mopars of any kind are usually feared for their high price to build, but we’re glad someone is doing something different – when this ’99 Dodge Viper owner decided 9’s just weren’t enough any more, he took his car to a whole new level of street legal performance with the help of Drummond Race Cars. Most would believe that a big block V8 swap would be the most sensible idea but this owner wanted to stay true to the Viper’s heritage with a V10 powerplant, taking the 488 Cubic Inch N/A motor out to a whopping 575 Cubic Inch with a little help from a pair of Promod 90mm Turbos that put this car in the ballpark of 2000 or so horsepower – one bad to the bone powerplant for this snake.

An amazing feat no doubt, though the owner is still hoping to break the 200 mph barrier soon.
The only item that even so much as hints the car isn’t a factory viper is the Powerglide transmission, though the stock T56 6 speed is fun for a street car, the reasons for making the swap are understandable in this application. The stock dashboard, gauge cluster, center console and even factory seats are still all there and functioing, the only accessory that was removed for space constraints was the AC system, the car still features a working radio and CD player.
