Scotty Gudagno will be one of the front runners for the nitrous contingent this season.

Nate and Adam Pritchett may be two of the nicest people in racing and all the while they continually work hard to promote their racing series. Their careers have had ups and downs like most but with a positive outlook at all times. They feel that the Ultimate Outlaw Shootout will be bigger than ever this year. 2009 looked as promising as a season could coming in with a lot of hype over the new series and joining forces with ORSCA to create that ultimate north versus south rivalry at the seasons last race. With all the wet weather put behind them at just about every race last year, Nate and Adam have high expectations of the series which is made possible by the great racers that continue to support them.

Looking ahead to the 2010 season Nate, Adam and myself got together to do a little bench racing and make predictions on what was going to happen this year, And here is what the Pritchett’s had to say.

Dragzine: If you two had to pick a “standout” class that will be the one to watch which would it be?

275 Drag Radial is full of wheelstanding action from guys like Chip Provenza.

Pritchett Bros: You know if we had to pick after looking back at last season, I think that 275 (drag radial) will be the class to watch. With all the new cars that are coming out to compete as well as a few outlaw racers taking that step back.  Also Pritchett Controls has stepped up and joined once again this year as they are the primary sponsor for 275 Drag Radial.

Dragzine: What are your expectations of the Outlaw 10.5 guys this season?

Pritchett Bros: Outlaw 10.5 is our foundation, It is what we have inspired to do for so long and hopefully this year we will finally do so.  Last year at Cecil County we had 24 cars in 10.5 and if the rains hadn’ t came we would have seen the best show all year. Mobley went 4.20’s and there were so many in the 4.30’s we lost count. That trend will continue and with all the new cars that are in the works we could have record setting fields at every event. 10.5 is always our best racing at the events with close racing right down to the finals.

Dragzine: What sets the Ultimate Outlaw Shootout Series apart from the other organizations?

Pritchett Bros: It’s our rules or the lack there of. We do not want these thick 10 page rule books for each class. We are outlaws and if we can not fit all the rules for a class on one page we will change the name to something other than “Outlaw”. The best racing that we can remember is back at 75-80 Dragway where it was 3000lbs. run what ya brung on 10.5’s and that is what we continue to push for. That’s how all this got started and the way that it needs to stay.

Dragzine: What else do you guys have in the works for the future aside from your racing series?

Pritchett Bros: Something we are real excited about is our new race car that is being built. As many people know, we sold the Camaro radial tired car and have a 2004 Mustang Outlaw 10.5 car on the way. The car is at Coast Chassis’ shop being built as we speak. The engine is Ray “Hollywood” Johnson’s old small block with twin turbos that was originally built by Anthony Disomma. With all of the stress of the past few years we really need to get out and have fun which is why we have decided to go the route we are. There is so much potential to win some money and that is our goal with heading out to Cecil County, Atco and maybe even our home track 75-80 Dragway.

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a brand new website coming soon that will fully showcase the Ultimate Outlaw Shootout Series.
