Moser Engineering’s
Rob Moser earned his first NHRA Wally in the Super Gas category over the weekend, as he drove the Moser Engineering ’10 C6 Corvette roadster to victory at the NHRA North Central Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at the Mid-Michigan Motorplex in Stanton, Mich. on Sunday. Moser defeated Richard Kurth in the final round, recording a stellar 9.904 as he pushed Kurth to a breakout 9.884 for the win.

Moser opened his weekend by clocking a 9.903 during time trials, placing him atop the order in Saturday’s DRAW/RFC/Moser Super Gas Shootout, but fel in the opening stanza to Leo Zynda. But Sunday was a different story.

Moser advanced through the opening round of Super Gas with a 9.923 effort, and downed Eddie Arnold in the second round. In round three, an .040 bulb and a 9.931 was enough to handle Pat Martin’s slower 9.955, and another 9.92 – a 9.927 – in round four was enough to overcome the slight .011 to .015 edge at the tree gained by opponent Steve Theodor. That set Moser up with a semifinal date with Larry Roedel. At the drop of the green, Roedel was a scant -.003 too quick on the trigger, sending Moser and his 9.932 into the final round pairing with Kurth.

With the win, Moser now sits safely inside the top 10 in the Division 3 Super Gas standings in sixth, with 226 points to his credit with five of his eight divisionals in the books.
