Neal Chance Racing Converters customers Mo Hall and Mike DeMayo brought the curtain down on a spectacular season for the Kansas-based maufacturer, in which nine different racer captured series crowns, with plenty of racing collected and records set along the way.
Hall, a regular competitor in Outlaw 10.5 action on the east coast, reset the all-time performance mark for a nitrous oxide-assisted Outlaw 10.5 car at the Cecil County Dragway in late November, clicking off a stout 4.215. The run was not only the world record for a nitrous car, but Hall’s quickest career elapsed time. Previously, in October, Hall had reeled off a 4.26 at the Atco Raceway. Hall’s incrementals were 1.056, 2.82, 4.215 at 183.87 MPH.
Meanwhile, on the opposite end of the country, NMRA regular Mike DeMayo was busy capturing
his second Hot Street victory at the 7th annual Street Car Super Nationals in Las Vegas. DeMayo, who won the event in 2008, downed a strong field of contenders that included fellow Neal Chance customer and 2011 NMRA champion Robbie Blankenship, who qualified #1 with an 8.12 at 165.40 MPH. DeMay was right behind in second at 8.16, while Don Bowles trailed in third at 8.23. With the race on the line, DeMayo squared off with the ageless Bowles, delivering the victory to Team Powerhead with an 8.11 to Bowles’ 8.14. DeMayo utilized NCRC’s Ultra Light Full Billet converter to clock a 1.13 short time during the weekend with his small-tired, naturally-aspirated Ford Mustang.
