The intrigue of how, when, and where a high performance product that we have is designed and manufactured has driven many companies with the resources to do so to create shop tours and behind-the-scenes videos guiding current and potential customers through a process they may never see otherwise. With the advent of digital video cameras and YouTube, it’s little more than a one-morning project to give the world an insiders view these days.
ATI Performance Products, manufacturers of racing transmissions and torque converters, maintains their own channel on YouTube, complete with a number of videos displaying the varying processes that occur within their Maryland-based facility.
Among the short flicks that ATI has created are those showing how the welds on a converter are cut open to servicing, a three-part video on the Accu-Bonder and how it bonds together the clutches in a converter, a four-part set on the welding machines and processes to seal up converters, and another four-part series that walks you through the process of preparing for and completing the welding stage. As well, ATI also shows us their Accu-Balance machine and how they set up and rotate converters to check for optimum balance using a digital balancing machine.
