At Donald “Duck” Long’s Lights Out 3 heads-up doorslammer extravaganza last weekend at the South Georgia Motorsports Park, Outlaw 275 heavy hitter Terry Elam, who captured the Outlaw 275 vs. True 10.5 title at the Radial Redemption there last fall, suffered breakage with his Brand X (as we’ll call it) torque converter and made the decision to switch back to his “old faithful” Neal Chance Racing Converter.

The result was a succession of the quickest and fastest passes that Elam has ever recorded, beginning with a No. 2 qualifying effort of 4.633 at 159.78 MPH, trailing only qualifying leader Joel Greathouse and his stout . In the opening round of eliminations, Elam then clicked off an even more impressive 4.619 at 161.17 MPH in a defeat of Pete Rickerson. That effort stood for low elapsed time of the opening round of eliminations – some .04 quicker than the 4.65 posted by Daniel Pharris. Unfortunately, due to the rains that made their way into the South Georgia region, Elam was unable to get his chance to take the Neal Chance banner to victory lane, but no doubt he’ll be among the racers to beat when the radial circus returns to Georgia in the fall.
