With the Indy area being a hot spot for assorted styles of racing it's no wonder there are some interesting cars at the events. This Mustang GT 500 ran the 9.0 index class.

At the end of 2010, discussions began for a new heads up series at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis with the first event held May 13th 2011. After having a successful year the event was set to move to Saturdays for the 2012 season but was abruptly cancelled earlier this week after an increase in rental fees and expenses less than a week before the opening weekend, dashing the hopes of many area racers ready to travel for the event this weekend, and for the season.

The series runs eight classes: Outlaw Pro Mod, Ultimate Dragster, Limited Street, True Street, Pro Bike, 9.0 and 10.0 index and Open Comp for a well rounded event.

Left, Sheldon Bissessar was a regular in the Ultimate Dragster class. Previous rules had the rails running on 10.5W's but have allowed the tire of the racers choice for this year. The Outlaw Pro Mods were also one of the feature attractions of the Indy Rage series.

There were some rule changes for 2012 including closing the gap between the “True Street” class rules and X275 and allowing full size rear tires In Ultimate Dragster, along with some other tweaks. As it stands now, the series is looking at area tracks to move the show to with Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis and Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky. showing interest, but as of this writing, there will be no event this weekend according to event organizers. You can check for further updates on the Indy Rage Facebook page. We all hate to see things like this happen in our racing community and hope they’re able to get this one set for the rest of the year and beyond.
