Variable Valve Timing (VVT) systems are designed to help fuel economy and reduce emissions, but they don’t do much for performance. A VVT system can also make it more challenging to work on your vehicle. Engine Pro developed its GEN 3 Hemi VVT Elimination Kit to improve reliability, provide easier tuning, and increase performance.
Engine Pro’s VVT Elimination Kit removes and replaces the OEM phaser with an improved one-piece cam sprocket setup. This eliminates the need for specialty tools to service the timing system, and it also removes the phaser springs. You get a straightforward installation and a dependable replacement system that works great with aggressive cam profiles.
The cam, crank, and oil pump drive sprockets included with the kit are made from billet steel. A nine keyway crank with +/- 4-degree cam adjustment is another big advantage the kit offers. Each kit also comes with a new tensioner and guide. An inverted tooth chain that’s been heat-treated and received a fine finish is also included in the kit.
“Our kit does away with the phaser and spring that’s part of the OEM VVT system. It’s all one piece that locks out. The nine keyway crank gear gives you the adjustability to set the cam timing. It’s a two-piece setup that’s separate from the oil pump gear,” explains Engine Pro’s Donnie Hurt.
