An NHRA Winternationals win is something that every Mission Foods Drag Racing Series driver wants on their resume. The 2026 edition of this historic event had it all from wild weather to historic performances. In a weekend packed with standout performances, Matt Hagan (Funny Car), Tony Stewart (Top Fuel) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) all brought home wins at Pomona.
Hagan Delivers In A Historic Moment

History was made at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, and Hagan made sure his name was etched into it, capturing the 1000th Funny Car victory in NHRA history. Hagan powered to a 3.876-second pass at 330.39 mph in the final round, edging out Capps’ strong 3.893 at 334.32 mph in a classic side-by-side Funny Car battle between two of the class’s most accomplished drivers.
The victory marked Hagan’s first win of the 2026 season and the 56th of his career, capping off what was arguably one of the most complete race weekends of his career.
“I was telling Tony that sometimes you just wake up and you know today’s going to good, and it was great. To win with the boss man to double up, and, you know, Leah [Pruett] was No. 1 qualifier, and winning the 1,000th Funny Car and the [Mission] #2Fast2Tasty yesterday …. the only thing we didn’t leave with was the change under the bleachers,” Hagan said.
Hagan’s path to the historic win included victories over Spencer Hyde, Jason Rupert, and J.R. Todd, along with a win in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge during qualifying, making it a flawless weekend across the board.

For Hagan, the significance of the win extends beyond the milestone number.
“This race track has shown me so much love over the years. Racing Capps, man, it was like back in the day throwing it down, because we always used to throw down, so it just kind of felt natural. It’s a magical place because champions are crowned here and tonight reminded me of the championship deals, because, you know, the lights were on and I’ve won a won a couple times under the lights here, and you know, it just felt right.”
Pomona has long been one of Hagan’s strongest tracks, and this victory further cements his legacy at the historic Southern California venue. Meanwhile, Capps’ runner-up finish, his second consecutive final-round appearance, keeps him firmly in the championship hunt as the season begins to take shape.
Tony Stewart Breaks Through In Top Fuel

While Hagan made Funny Car history, Tony Stewart delivered a milestone moment of his own in Top Fuel. Stewart secured his first Top Fuel win at Pomona and the first Top Fuel victory for Elite Motorsports, posting a weekend-best 3.683-second run at 332.51 mph to defeat Justin Ashley in the final.
The win marks the third of Stewart’s NHRA career and comes one year after finishing runner-up at the Winternationals, making the victory even more meaningful.
“I’ve been [in NHRA] for five years now and following Leah around and being a part of it, but it doesn’t take long to realize how special Pomona is in drag racing, and how much it means to everybody,” Stewart said. “To be able to come here, and especially on an anniversary or for NHRA, you couldn’t ask for a better scenario for me. The only thing that would have made it better is if we met Leah in the finals. But for Matt to win is the 1,000th Funny Car win here, and to be here on NHRA 75th anniversary, and win here at the Winternationals, that is huge.”
Stewart’s route to victory included wins over Will Smith, Josh Hart, and Shawn Langdon before facing Ashley in the final round.
Greg Anderson Continues Pomona Dominance In Pro Stock

In Pro Stock, Greg Anderson once again proved why Pomona is one of his strongest tracks. The six-time world champion secured his record-tying 17th career victory at the facility, defeating teammate Dallas Glenn in the final round with a 6.505-second pass at 209.88 mph.
The win marks Anderson’s 113th career victory and his eighth Winternationals title, tying him with Bob Glidden for the most in Pro Stock history.
“I came to the racetrack today with a lot of confidence. I felt good. I knew I was going to have a great hot rod. It’s been great all weekend,” Anderson said. “It just absolutely loves this racetrack. It’s a blast to drive this car. We had a great weekend as a team; from top to bottom, the KB Titan team was very, very impressive, but that meant it was going to be really hard for me to find a way to win on Sunday, but we did it.”
Anderson’s performance included the No. 1 qualifying position and the quickest elapsed time in every round of eliminations.
