Race cars run on three things: fuel, money, and maintenance. While maintenance isn’t the most glamorous part of racing, it’s arguably the most important if you want to win. In this video from Meziere Enterprises, we learn how to properly service and maintain 100 and 300 Series Meziere electric water pumps.
Every component on a race car has an operational life cycle, and electric water pumps are no exception. Meziere water pumps are built to last, often running for thousands of hours before requiring maintenance. When service is needed, the pumps’ modular design makes them easy to work on for users with the right parts and basic mechanical knowledge.
The Meziere 100 and 300 Series pumps feature a center-section design that simplifies disassembly for cleaning and maintenance. To begin the process, you’ll need to loosen the motor screws. Once loosened, the motor can be removed using the built-in pry slot located on the driver’s side of the pump. After that, remove the remaining screws and separate the center section from the housing. This allows access to the motor and housing for inspection, cleaning, or replacement.
In the video, Don Meziere walks through the entire maintenance process step by step, making it easy to follow along. He also demonstrates how to handle a brush displacement situation, which can occur during service. With proper guidance, there’s no need to feel intimidated when it’s time to work on your Meziere electric water pump.
