The Southeast Gassers Association (SEGA) is bringing its signature brand of heads-up, nostalgia drag racing back to Alabama. For the first time ever, Holiday Raceway in Woodstock, Alabama will host SEGA competition as part of the 2026 championship season. The Bama Brawl presented by Superior Performance Transmissions marks race two on the schedule and the long-awaited return of premier gasser racing to the state after nearly five years.
SEGA’s last championship stop in Alabama came at Lassiter Mountain Dragway, and since then, racers and fans alike have been waiting for a return. That return nearly happened in 2025, but weather forced a delay. The track itself is a perfect match for SEGA’s throwback style. Established in 1968 and still family-owned and operated, Holiday Raceway embodies the grassroots spirit that defines the association.

Every region has its heavy hitters, and Alabama is no exception. In SEGA competition, the state is represented by a group of seasoned racers often referred to as the “Bama Bunch”. The lineup includes names like Dean, Oden, and Rainwater. Across multiple classes, from Super Stock to A/Gas, these competitors have built reputations as some of the toughest and most consistent racers in the series.
The Bama Brawl is structured to deliver a full weekend of action, starting with a Friday evening test and tune session exclusively for SEGA competitors. On Saturday, qualifying begins at 1:00 PM Central, followed by heads-up eliminations that will crown champions in each category.
