Jason Line and the KB Racing team based out of Mooresville, North Carolina have experienced a strong resurgence in recent weeks as the NHRA’s six-race Countdown to the Championship has unfolded, even holding the Pro Stock points lead for a period and maintaining a striking-distance position in the standings throughout, and as Line and our friends at Holley explain, some of that success is owed to their Gen-3 Ultra Dominator carburetors.

Line, in his Summit Racing Equipment Chevrolet Camaro, was runner-up at the Countdown-opening Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals in Charlotte in early September, won the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals in Dallas, and carded low elapsed time at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals near St. Louis. Line began testing the Gen-3 Dominator earlier in the season, allowing for this kind of performance when it counted.

The Holley Gen-3 Ultra Dominator carburetors have been designed specifically for high-horsepower racing applications like the 1,400+ horse, 500 cubic inch powerplants used by NHRA Pro Stock racers. The modern carburetors feature a patent-pending main body thats 5/16-inch taller than the previous generation carburetor, allowing for larger radius air entries that results in smoother airflow into the fully machined, bit-bore venturi. The all-aluminum body is 3.8 lbs. lighter than previous generation Dominators, and the fuel bowls have 20 percent more capacity. The redesigned billet aluminum metering blocks are fully adjustable and feature improved gasket sealing, and the 1350 and 1475 CFM models have a modified skirt booster to help maintain a strong fuel signal.

“The Holley team put a lot of work into the Gen 3.  We’re glad to see them in action in the tough world of NHRA Pro Stock racing.  With top racers like Jason Line being successful and laying down blistering 6.590 ETs at 211.2 MPH, we’re confident they will help racers at all levels,” says Bill Tichenor, Holley’s Director of Marketing, “Our engineers listened to what racers needed to be competitive, and we responded with a powerful carburetor that’s also easily adjusted at the track.”
