A rivalry between a pair of southeast street and no prep racing stars — Mississippi’s Kye Kelley and Texan James “Birdman” Finney — have been heating up over the last few months…and so too has the argument over who really has the number one street raced car in the nation.
Both Finney and Kelley are headed to next weekend’s Bounty Hunters No Prep Grudge Nationals at the San Antonio Raceway, where they could very well tangle once more for the $50,000 prize. And, some might argue, for the undisputed title of the nation’s number one street/no prep racer. And as word has it, Finney will be bringing a combination in his new Firebird that’s straight out of one of Todd Moyer’s rides to home the fifty grand. We’ll be bringing the Bounty Hunters race to you LIVE on Dragzine.com and Speedvideo.com beginning next Friday night, so be sure to mark your calendars!
The rivalry between the two Big Tire racers boiled to a head on Tuesday following the airing of the second episode of Street Outlaws: New Orleans on the Discovery Channel, and quickly devolved into a war of words on social media. That argument has since been removed after getting a little ‘out of hand.’
While we won’t ruin the episode for anyone, the saga centers around a matchup that will appear in a couple of weeks on Street Outlaws NOLA when Kelley and his “Shocker” Camaro travel to Houston to take on Finney and his nasty twin turbocharged IROC Camaro. The result of that race was reportedly hotly contested on the air over a centerline violation, and it seems that Finney was more than a little perturbed over a similar situation that occurred on this past Monday night’s episode, but was filmed prior to he and Kye’s race.
Dragzine has obtained the social media argument, and it’s pretty ugly. Scroll below to check it out, but be warned, the language is pretty rowdy. These guys don’t like each other.
It should be noted that since that the yet-to-be-aired taping of Street Outlaws NOLA took place, Finney and Kelley have locked horns on the race track again, with Finney ousting the Shocker for $15,000 at the Redemption 4.0 no prep race with a new-to-him race car at the Texas Raceway in Kennedale just after New Years.
