Joe Newsham switched to a Hemi engine combo for this year and has struggled quite a bit applying the power which is a much different animal than the wedge combo he ran previously.
One of the highlights of the weekend is the Kids Contest with assorted sponsors providing prizes. Monte and Maria Mikho host and it's a great time for the children and families participating. Girls and boys compete separately for prizes with the top three earning prizes. Top prize for the girls is an Apple Ipar Air 2 and the boys winner gets a DJI Phanton 3 Drone.
One of the more impressive builds here this weekend is this 1967 Nova owned by Lou Sedita based out of Sayville, New York running in 8.50 Index. The chassis was done by Hell Bent Race Cars with the rest of the build finished by John Balinski at On A Budget Race Cars and is powered by a twin turbo small block Chevy from Heads Up Racing in Bohemia, NY. He purchased the car out of California as a 33,000 original miles one owner car and had the body and paint by Bonified Auto Refinishing in Patchogue, NY. It rolls on Weld Racing V series wheels with a 295 Drag Radial out back hooked up to a Fab 9 rear filled with Strange internals. The cars sees quite a bit of street duty racking up about 6,000 miles on it since completion and is also a show winning Best of Show in Morgan Park. He took the round win this morning and will advance to round two.
Nova Joe Albrecht was top qualifier in OL 10.5 vs Radial Wars and faced off with Ron Hamm in round one this morning earning the win with a 4.12 at 192 MPH. The radial cars fared well this morning before the track has much heat in it. We will see who has the tune up for this afternoon against the slick tire cars.A career best 3.91 for Gary Naughton in round one taking the win over Tommy Gray’s Undertaker in an exciting match in Pro Mod.
Round One Elimination Results
Gary Gonzalez drives this 1999 Camaro for Scott McDonald who is a Navy veteran injured in active duty in 1999 after serving just over 4 years. Power comes from a RPE Machine billet block 427 LS force fed by a Forced Inductions 88 MM turbo and backed by a Rossler transmission with sponsorship by Fragola Racing Products. This is the first year out with the car and Gary is the points leader at New England Dragway X275 running a new best here yesterday with a 4.81 at 140 MPH and improved to a 4.76 at 149 in round two in a win over Manny Buginga. Originally tuned by Frank Soldridge and now tuned by Scott the car was originally built by Kurt Urban at Wheel to Wheel Performance. John Sipola has this very clean 1990 Mustang in Ultra 275 and is based out of East Islip, New York. He qualified twentieth and faced off with Fran Shatz in round one. Sipola did his job on the tree with an .026 reaction though his 5.02 at 133 wasn’t good enough to stay out front of Shatz’ 4.93 at 146.Jeff Kinsler took a hard loss to Tony Mullin in Ultra 275 with both cars struggling and falling way off pace. Kinsler was away first by a wide margin but slowed to a 5.91 at 140 as both cars fought for traction. Mullin’s 5.66 would earn his way to round two.Richboro, PA based Rob Poochigan runs his 67 Chevelle in Ultra 275 and was qualified third in class. He met with Dan Moore from Newark, Delaware this round with just .001 separating their reaction times. More had issues and shut down early while Poochigan went right down to a 4.81 at 146 MPH.Joel Greathouse was qualified number two in Ultra and was set to face Seffner, Florida’s Hannah Sanders from Pirez Sanders Racing. Sanders hurt the engine yesterday and was not able to make the round. Greathouse ran it out on his bye to a 4.85 at 144.
Round Two Elimination Results
In OL 10.5 round two action it was Mo Hall paired up with Kevin Fiscus in a radial vs slick match up. Hall clearly got away first with a .019 reaction doing his job on the tree. For his part Hall was consistent with another mid 4.20 at 173 he just couldn’t hold on as Fiscus drove right by with a 4.09 at 198 MPH pass.Tim Essex (near lane) faced off with Jerry Mitrovic who took the hole shot. As Essex’ turbos brought in the boost the car got on the bars lifting the rear tires forcing him to leave and Mitrovic to earn a berth to round three with a 4.13 at 187.Nova Joe Albrecht faced off with Steve Drummond in his chameleon painted twin turbo Mustang. Drummond would get away first but face trouble near 150 feet out allowing Albrecht to get by with a 4.12 at 192.Jesse Lambert faced off with Mike Decker Jr. in the Corvette and had trouble with traction early in the run while Lambert scored a 4.49 at 175 to take the upset win. Decker was double entered and faced Shawn Ayers with the Camaro with both drivers making great runs. It was Ayers holeshot that earned the win with a 4.082 at 195 to Decker’s quicker 4.071 at 188.In Pro Mod round two Jim Halsey faced off with Jim Bersani who went red giving Halsey the go ahead win. He went down with a 3.92 at 195, a nice run for him. He will face Chris Rini in the semis.Dean Maranis laid down a 3.87 at 198 in his match with Chuck Mohn who shut down early after taking the holeshot.Chris Rini is here at the YB Nats for the first time and also the first time back here at Cecil County since 2002 when he ran Top Sportsman. The team struggled early but changed the set up on the car and has been consistent since scoring a 3.87 in the last round. He will have lane choice in the semi finals against Jim Halsey.
Round Three Eliminations
Jesse Lambert was searching for a pushrod after round two in Outlaw 10.5 vs Radial and came up with one to make the round against Kevin Fiscus. He did work on the tree netting a .022 reaction to Fiscus very safe .117. Lambert put up a 4.28 for his efforts but was no match for Fiscus’ 4.08 at 197 MPH round win. Fiscus will face Albrecht in the semi, setting up arguably the match of the day.Nick Agostino left first against Shawn Ayers in Fletcher Cox’s Mustang who had a .058 which would have been plenty going by previous round performance. Cox lost traction though and wasn’t able to recover allowing Agostino to to take the round to face off with Jerry Mitrovic in the semi final.Joe Albrecht had lane choice vs John Bartunic taking the left lane in a nitrous vs blower, radial vs slick match. The drivers had near identical reaction times with Bartunic getting the nod by .002. Albrecht ripped off another 4.00 pass to Bartunic’s game 4.15 at 176.In Ultra 275 George Farkouh faced off with Joel Greathouse. Farkouh put the power to it improving to a 4.84 it just wasn’t enough to match Greathouse’s 4.75.Mean Dean Maranis faced off with Erik Lafeariere who is driving for car owner Keith Douglas in X275 who best Maranis on the tree by .028. Lafeariere laid down a 4.65 at 157 for his efforts while Maranis improved on his prior round performance by .076 to a 4.531 to earn the round win.
Semi Final Results
The first pair out in the semi final round was Kevin “Flash” Fiscus and Nova Joe Albrecht. (left) Albrecht took the left lane and cut a light on Fiscus who put up his best effort of the day with a 4.00 at 199.76 MPH. In the other lane Albrecht laid down another very good pass netting a 4.01 at 195 and the round win on his better reaction time. The other pair was Nick Agostino and Jerry Mitrovic making at an all Canadian affair with both cars sitting on MT 10.5's. Agostino lit the red bulb when the tree came down ending his day with Mitrovic running a 4.03 at 189 to Agostino's 4.11 and will face off with the Blown GTO of Albrecht.
Jim Halsey hooked hard scoring a .936 60' and running it out the back to a 3.80 at 186 while Rini shook hard at the 60' and shut it down. Kevin McCurdy scored a win with a 4.01 over Dean Maranis who did not leave the line under full power and may have been broken and just took the tree.
Next up would be X275 with Ron Rhodes and Nicki Notch (left) the first pair out. Nicki red lit trying to cut the tree down when he needed to and Rhodes went right down broadway to a 4.51 at 157. Rich Bruder and Dean Maranis were the other pair with Bruder scoring a 4.43 at 151 to Maranis' 4.47 at 153 pass earning the win and a final round spot vs Ron Rhodes. All four of the cars that were left have raced each other multiple times here at Cecil County and a Rhodes/Bruder final is nothing new to anyone here tonight. Bruder will have lane choice.
In Ultra 275 it was Joel Greathouse and Chris Evans, another familiar pairing here at Cecil. Greathouse took the win over Evans with a 4.72 at 151 with Evans running hard to a 4.80 at 143. Shawn Pevlor and Joe Albrecht were the final pairing in the pro semi finals with Pevlor. Albrecht cut the tree down cutting a .007 reaction to Pevlor's .057 but could not hold on despite his improved 4.84 at 145. Pevlor reset his personal best and track record pace with a 4.682 at 150.
Final Results
The 10.0 Index final paired up Dana Loffredo from Brick, New Jersey in her 1998 Firebird and Randy Dolbin driving a 1970 Nova based out of Peach Botton, PA. Loffredo had a .033 reaction time to Dolbin’s sleepy .127. At the stripe both racers played the game with Loffredo earning the win on a double break out match with a 9.998 at 133 to Dolbin’s 9.886 at 137 MPH.The 8.50 Index final had Johnny Thomsen Jr.. facing off with Matt Meissner, number ten qualifier vs number thirty one. Both drivers were very late after a long day of racing with Meissner better by .074. Matt pushed the strip trying to make up ground but broke out with an 8.479 handing the event win to Thomsen who put up an 8.575 taking the win. Photo courtesy Chris Simmons.In Pro Dial it was John Voshell from Townsend, Delaware in his 1971 Comet against Matt Ricchezza based out of Cherry Hill, New Jersey driving a 1993 Form Mustang. Voshell was better on the light with a .031 reaction, solidly better than his opponent. Voshell was on a 10.57 dial in Pro Dial running just over with a 10.587 scoring a win as Ricchezza broke out playing catch up with a 10.26 on a 10.29. Photo courtesy Chris Simmons.Pro Street had a lot of cars in class with number 30 Dale Cornelius facing off with number 60 Roger Dalton Jr. Dalton was late on the tree with a .043 reaction to Corneilus .029 with the drivers dialing one second apart with Cornelius the quicker car with a 10.01 dial in. The race was decided on the tree with both drivers running .056 over dial and Cornelius earning the event win. It would be a double break out match with Zartman scoring the win with an 11.974 to Sheaffer’s 10.853.Mike Gerber and Steve Dooley faced off in the Top Sportsman final. Gerber put up a 4.480 on a 4.44 dial while Dooley’s 5.947 was just under his dial ending his day in the Final. At the stripe it would be Pevlor first with a .031 reaction, running a 4.64 at 149 MPH with another personal best and track record for Ultra 275.The X275 final would be a familiar exorcise with a match between Rich Bruder and Ron Rhodes. Bruder would be dead late with a .223 reaction time. Rhodes would card a .025 but strike the tires at the hit while Bruder went down the track with a 4.440 at 162 MPH earning the class win.Joe Albrecht and Jerry Mittrovic squared up in the Outlaw 10.5 final with Albrecht away first with a .051 reaction. Albrecht had been running well all day scoring low ET for the round several times. He was better on the tree and scored low ET of the weekend in OL 10.5 while on radials, earning the event win with a 3.977 at 196 to Mitrovic’s best of weekend 3.990 at 190.Kevin McCurdy faced off with Jim Halsey in the Pro Mod final and was away first with a .049 reaction time to Halsey’s .077. Halsey would struggle with traction on the run drifting right and brushing the wall with the bullhorn and slowing to a 4.20. McCurdy went down with a 3.85 at 192 earning the event win at the 2016 Yellow Bullet Nationals.

Mike Pyott has been to every YB Nats running 8.50 Index. He is sporting a new engine from Hartsock Racing Engines, changing the stroke to reduce cubic inches and allow for a better ring package for nitrous use. He uses Diamond Pistons and Induction Solutions nitrous, Mickey Thompson tires, PTC Converters with the trans built by Kenny Keith. He qualified yesterday with an 8.73 and is currently on the bump in the 32 car qualified field.NMRA Renegade racer Adam Arndt is here running Ultra 275 this weekend though has struggled getting staying hooked up with the added horsepower due to a cylinder head change to be more competitive in Ultra 275 here this weekend. The car has been 4.80’s in NMRA trim and he will be looking to improve on that dipping in the .70’s.The Cheap Thrills Chevelle is part of a father son team owned by Wayne Good and driven by his son Mike. They have two cars here with both racing in the 8.50 Index class. Power comes from a Jason Risser built big Chevy. The car has been a race car since 1970 where Wayne ran NHRA Super Stock I with a 325 HP 396 for four or five years before moving to bracket racing, then Super Gas. The car is now powered by a 582 cubic inch big Chevy and runs 8.80’s.Zach Obert runs this clean Fox in 8.50 Index based out of Runnemede, New Jersey and is a long time participant here at the Yellow Bullet Nationals. Power comes from a Cunningham Competition Engines and Cylinder Heads built small block Chevy. Zach purchased the car with a ten point cage and had Gary Naughton update it to 25.5 certification good for 7.50. He moved to drag racing about 5 years ago after breaking his femur racing motocross. He is here with his girlfriend Nicki Garano who is leading the 10.0 Index points at Atco.
This weekend's BFE award goes to John Posemato who is running 8.50 index. We spoke with him three years ago when he was still building this car with chassis work by Joey Gambino. It's powered by a 396 cubic inch small block from Bison Engine and Machine with drivetrain components coming from Strange Engineering. John is shown with his girlfriend Carrie Belec.
Roving the pits this morning we ran across these two fine examples of early Chevy Muscle. A 1970 Chevelle owned by Bill Lewis and the 68 Elky owned by Randy Bochnowicz. The Chevelle runs a 548 Chevy topped with Brodix heads and runs mid nines. Bill purchased the Chevelle in 2000 and took about three years to complete the first build. Randy bought his El Camino as a resto mod big block 4 speed car back in 1983 and is powered by a Pete's Auto built 489 big Chevy with Brodix BB2 Plus heads and topped with an old school Edelbrock tunnel ram and a pair of 850 Holley center squirt carburetors. Paint and body on both cars was done Street Visions in Pottstown, PA before the shop was moved to Moorseville, North Carolina.
The BuuWack/SC is owned by Mike Clayboss and is looking much different that when we spoke with him here three years ago. Mike works at John Kennedy Ford doing paint and body work and did the car himself. He is running 8.50 this weekend so is on 10.5 rather than the big tires he normally runs. Mike is pictured with his daughter/manager Mikayla Clayboss. We dropped by Marc McCloud’s pit this morning catching him oil the engine before start up. The track was a little tricky for the NA Ultra 275 cars. He was able to get hooked up but had to pedal the car out of a wheel stand landing fifteenth on the sheet with a 5.07 at 137 MPH.Outlaw 10.5 number two qualifier Jerry Mitrovic is partnered in the car with Phil Sliskovic. The Camaro was built by LJ and Joe Vanoverbeek based on Jerry’s desings. Mitrovic said they are going number one in class tonight with the Musi powered Camaro.
Al Fonse Jr has the Race Strange Mustang in 8.50 Index this weekend. The car is powered by a small block Ford with an Induction Solutions Sledgehammer plate set up for a dry shot. A FAST EFI is used for engine management with the engine built in House at Fonse Performance and backed by a powerglide transmission. Aston, PA racer Darrell Varner has a new car here this weekend with just five laps on it since he purchased it from Jesse Lambert and had it updated at Rhodes Automotive before coming straight here for testing. Power is from a Fulton big block from his Camaro backed by a Proformance Transmission. Wayne Keegan from Competitive Wiring is here helping out with the team this weeknd. Varner is qualified tenth with a 4.64 despite the car not shifting to second gear. I have to thank Ron and the Rhodes auto team for all the help getting here this week and Strange Engineering for the fast service getting us new axles. He will be looking for 4.50s in the final session.
Frank Soldridge is here this weekend a bit over weight for 10.5 after receiving a 200 pound penalty after running a 3.96 here back in May. He runs a 4.84 bore space 638 cubic inch big Chevy from J&E Performance. For the next round Frank just wants to make sure the car goes A to B and get in the field and go from there. Joey Hefferman is running Top Sportman with their Opel GT using a Gil Davis maintained Shaffiroff 434 small block Chevy topped with a Sledgehammer plate from IS. The car was originally a NHRA Comp Eliminator A/EA car campaigned by his Bob Kaiser and driven by Joe Hefferman for years back in the 1980's before selling it and eventually buying it back and redoing the car to current specs by Larry King Racing, the same shop that did the original build back in 1982. He is qualified twenty second with a 4.79.
John Ashnault is running X275 with his Disomma Racing Engines powered Mustang built by Crazy Don's Chassisworks in Long Island. He has had the car for a few years now and recently switched from gasoline to M1 alcohol with tuning from Rich and Nick Bruder. They are still working out the new tunes up since the switch. Gear changes come from a Proformance Transmission.
This 51 Chevy Gasser is owned by Larry Curtis Jr. and is turning heads this weekend with some wheels up launches running solid eight second passes with a blown big Chevy from Dave Gagnon. The chassis was done by JW Racing in Connecticut and finished up about three years ago. His brother Don Big Time Curtis is running in X275 with an orange S10 pickup running in the 4.70's. Both cars use Accurate Transmissions and PTC Converters and normally race at Epping Dragway. Seventeen year old William Simmons is the 50-50 raffle winner today scoring $1,317 to take home.
Final Qualifying Results
For the final round on qualifying the track set up some match races for the quickest qualifiers in Outlaw 10.5 pitting them against the quickest cars on radials in the class. Number one and two qualifiers Joe Albrecht and Jerry Mitrovic were paired up with Mitrovic getting away first. As the pair moved down track Albrecht took over the lead landing a 4..006 at 194 improving his ET and holding on to the top position as Mitrovic also put up his best pass so far scoring a 4.016 at 190, which would have been good for the top spot as Jerry predicted had it not been for Albrecht’s own improvement in the BAE powered GTO (far lane)Michael Decker Jr. took one for the 10.5 side improving his Et to a 4.02 to stay third in class. Paul Major improved some to a 4.21.“Flash” Fiscus struggled hooking the car before round three and found the trick scoring a 4.03 at 199 to improve to fourth and earning top MPH in qualifying on the run. Charlie Dolbin wasn’t able to improve in his 4.088 but was consistent with a clean 4.09 at 194 hit.Canadian based racer Frank Pompillio is in with a 4.085, just in front of Dolbin.
Michael Ziccardi has this gorgeous 1970 Cuda in OL 10.5 with a 526 Hemi from Ace Competition in Long Island and tuned on a Big Stuff 3 by John Balinski from OAB Racing. It has a Keith Black block and AJE heads backed by a Proformance TH 400 Transmission. Twin 88 Bullseye turbos provide the boost. Ziccardi hails from Long Island and debuted the car here at the 2015 YB Nats after purchasing it as a roller out of Canada. He landed fourteenth in the field with a 4.25 at 177. JTM Motorsports and DMC assisted in some fabrication work with American Racing Headers handling the turbo piping and exhaust. Left to right is John Balinski and Michael. Shawn Pevlor and Troy Pirez Jr lined up for a match race in Ultra 275 in round three which was set to be exciting as Pevlor was already on pace for the Ultra 275 class record here at Cecil with his earlier 4.70 and Pirez vowing to let it hang out in the final session. The match did not disappoint as Pevlor threw down a 4.690 to back up his record and Pirez did indeed hang it out scoring a personal best 4.767 at 143 MPH and improving six positions to number four qualifier.Joel Greathouse moved up to second in the third session with a 4.73 at 151.09 earning top MPH on the pass.Dean Marinis is running two classes this weekend and is qualified well in both, sitting third in X275 and first in Pro Mod. Marinis was paired up with Kevin Fiscus in Pro Mod and scored a win as the FKR entry lost a head gasket during the run, incurring enough damage to end his weekend in Pro Mod.

Bruce Maichle from High Horse Performance is here to debut his new car built in house at HHP. Power comes from a BES built LS based 427 topped with All Pro Heads and force fed by an F1X Procharger with Fuel Tech engine management. Power is transferred rearward via a PTC converter and ATF Transmission. He has been testing for a couple of months working the bugs out of the new car and will be in full race mode this weekend with Mike Cerminaro driving.
High Horse Performance will debut their new cast aluminum New Gen Chrysler Hemi block this weekend in Rob Goss' Dodge Challenger. The new piece saw some dyno time in a naturally aspirated combination making just over 700 horsepower though the one Goss has is solid version. The project took about two years to come to fruition with a planned first production run of 25 blocks with both water jacketed and solid versions. Goss put up a 4.79 at 153 in last night testing. Ron Rhodes ran a 4.41 at 158 MPH here last month earning a small block nitrous record and new personal best. The team has been making changes to the car through the year which have finally paid off and will be looking to defend his 2015 YB Nationals X275 Championship.Mo Hall put up a 4.12 on one pass earlier in testing Friday but suffered some engine damage later in the session losing a piston and damaging the intake when the engine backfired. The team has won the last two events here at Cecil County and is just behind Mike Decker in OL 10.5 points. Mo Hall, Steve Berger and crew will be working hard to make it three in a row this weekend.
Team Jet Blue and Scotty G is running Outlaw 10.5 this weekend in his first time on slicks in over five years since running Radial vs the World with the Camaro. With that class getting “out of touch” according to some racers Scotty moved back to OL 10.5 this weekend and is looking to run Outlaw 275 next month at No Mercy down in Georgia. He made two promising hits Thursday and will look for some full passes in testing today.
Jesse Lambert purchased this car here in 2015 from Steve Gorman and recently made the switch to methanol. He has been learning how slicks and wheelie bars work after racing in drag radials exclusively in the past. The car uses Big Stuff engine management with an AMS 2000 boost controller with a Davis Electronics Profiler collecting data but not currently integrated with the engine management at this time. A Bruno/Lenco transmission and Coan converter harness the power from the Steve Merckel built engine with a new bullet underway by Joe Newsham.
Fiscus Klugger Racing has both their cars here this weekend with “The Flash” assigned driving duty for both. Rumors are swirling about future plans after the teams Drag Radial car went up for sale recently. We will see if we can pry a scoop out of them before the weekend is over. Routine maintenance found the axle splines twisted a bit on the radial car so new pieces are going in and they will start testing on Friday.
Joe Albrecht drives for car owner Eddie Whalen's Al-Lee Motrosports and has the new car here this weekend scoring a 4.14 at 187 on just his first full pass Thursday. The Vanishing Point Race Cars built 2006 GTO features a screw blown BAE Hemi tuned by Resolution Racing's Jon Salemi. He is running Outlaw 10.5 this weekend on drag radials and also has the box Nova here running in Ultra Street with new power from Scotty's Racing Technology. Michael Decker had trouble last night losing a connecting rod in the OL 10.5 Decker Salvage Corvette. The team was preparing to install another engine into the car but has not made the decision to race their Vette or the Camaro still in the trailer. Plans include making laps on both cars today as of Thursday night so we will see what bears out today.Gary Naughton in back in the seat after taking a year off to regroup and get some updates done on the car. John Sears was getting folks teched in yesterday and will be working hard again today ensuring the entrants are class legal. Here he checks the blower inlet on Rob Goss' Mopar. There are several specialty tools used in the process for assorted blower and turbo sizes. Friday’s race schedule ran testing to right at 4 PM and we are just about to start round one qualifying with Super Street out first. The run order will be the same every day with Pro Street next, then 10.0 Index and Pro Dial. This super clean 70 Monte Carlo is entered in 8.50 Index and is arguably the most unassuming car on the lot racing this weekend.
This is the first on camera carnage of the weekend running out the last car in Ultra 275, Rexx Holler who lost an axle at the hit making for an interesting "Caption This" shot. Here is Gary Naughton’s GXP in the daylight. He ran it out to a 4.06 at 193 MPH testing this afternoon.Brian Shaw has his new car on the property with James Hancock behind the wheel this weekend. They were working with the Fuel Tech engine management yesterday and didn’t make any runs. The car looked strong to half track on this run, clicking early to a 4.50 at 136.Ron Rhodes wheelied some but pedaled it down saving the run and the car. He clicked it early for a 4.70.Cecil County track owner Jim Halsey is racing Pro Mod this weekend. He shook quite a bit on this pass but drove through it to a 4.32 at 139 shutting down just past half track.
Mark McCloud (left) and Mike Barry are two of several naturally aspirated racers in Ultra 275 here this weekend. The weather forecast is looking better today and the cooler air will help these guys out against the boosted cars in class. Troy Pirez Jr made the trip up from Florida again scoring a 4.90 at 134 on his second pass of the weekend after gremlins on his first attempt this morning. Troy posted “We have a good car for Q1 this evening” to his Facebook making note he shut it down early.
Dean Maranis is pulling double duty driving in two classes this weekend in X275 and Pro Mod. He put down a 4.32 at 176 in the Vette. Shawn Pevlor ripped of a nice 4.79 on his test run.
Round One Qualifying Results
Dean Marinas scored top qualifier this session with a 3.784 at 199.52 MPH in beautiful Marinas/Pappas Corvette.Kevin “Flash” Fiscus sits second in Pro Mod with a 3.78 at 210.11, good for high MPH this session.Joe Albrecht sits number one in Outlaw 10.5 after the first session with a 4.01 at 190 MPH making the team very happy with the performance so far this weekend with the new car.Mike Decker Jr. attempted to qualify both the team cars landing third with a 4.04 at 189 in the 1968 Camaro after the Vette lost a blower belt at the hit early in the OL 10.5 session.Joe Newsham put his 1992 Mustang in fourth position so far earning high MPH for the session with a nice 4.085 at 198 MPH blast.Scotty Guadagno did well today scoring tenth spot with a 4.14 at 174 including a 1.01 60′. This should please the crew a lot as their first time back on 10.5W’s in some time. Look for the team to add some power down track tomorrow as they will sure be looking to improve on the .14.The man to beat so far in X275 is Ron Rhodes who was just off his record pace with a 4.42 at 157 in the first session. Rich Bruder sits second. just .006 off Rhodes pace at 161.13 MPH.High MPH for the session went to Robert Babtista in his 2002 Camaro with a 161.88 MPH run, good for fifth so far with thirty four cars making attempts for the 32 car qualified field.A 4.700 at 150.25 landed Shawn Pevlor number one in Ultra 275 after one round of qualifying.George Farkouh and the American Racing Headers team made the trip tot he YB Nats this year and has run well so far landing fifth in class with a 4.81 at 147 MPH.
