Being able to test the true limits of a modern high-horsepower car on the street isn’t something that really can be done due to safety concerns. It’s becoming easier to find different street car shootouts where you can take a car that makes huge power, and see what it can do at the track eliminating the risk found on the street. The TX2K17 Roll Race Nationals offers one of the most unique street car racing events that simulates street racing in a controlled environment at the track, and that you can catch streaming LIVE on Speedvideo.com.
At the Roll Race Nationals cars have about 400 feet to pace each other and accelerate to around 60-65 mph before they reach the 300 foot long “green zone”. As long as the cars are paired up close to one another in that green zone, the light will turn green and the race is on. After the green light drops it’s a 1,500 foot race to see who gets to the finish line first. Cars that participate in the Roll Race Nationals are some of the quickest street cars in the world and make huge power.
TX2K17 event organizer Peter Blach stresses that the event is about giving racers a safe place to turn their cars up. “The Roll Race Nationals is the Super Bowl of street car racing, where these guys can really see what these cars can do. This race simulates street racing conditions in a safe, and controlled environment at Royal Purple Raceway. It also gives the spectators the opportunity to see the fastest street cars in the nation battle it out.”
Some of the best high-performance shops in the country like Underground Racing, T1 Race Development, ETS/English Racing, Heffner Performance, and AMS will have everything from twin-turbo Lamborghinis to fully built GTRs on the track. There will also be 1,000-plus horsepower Camaros, Corvettes, and Mustangs mixing it up with the exotic cars. These cars are brutally fast and it has become a huge accolade for a shop or driver to win this event. The level of power on display to push these machines to well over 200 mph is breathtaking.
These cars will be putting up some impressive numbers for street cars in such a short distance. “People can expect to see cars go from 60-210 mph in 1,500 feet. Last year’s fastest car was a twin-turbo Lamborghini built by Underground Racing that ran 213 mph, this year we are expecting cars to go 220 mph,” Blach explains.
The TX2K17 Roll Race Nationals is an event you must see in person to appreciate the true power of these cars. Make sure you book your trip now to Royal Purple Raceway March 16-19th to catch all the great racing action at TX2K17. If you can’t make the trip don’t worry, SpeedVideo will be broadcasting the entire event live right here thanks to presenting sponsor Weld Racing, along with additional sponsors Mickey Thompson, FAST, Comp Cams, Driven Racing Oil, and QA1.
