The PDRA is ready to kick off the 2017 season at South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP) with the Southern Extreme Nationals. This race is going to be packed with some of the best Pro Mod racing you will see and promises to keep fans entertained March 9-11th. It’s been two years since the PDRA has visited the great racing facility at SGMP. Racers absolutely love the paved pits and an amazing racing surface that provides them the opportunity to run huge numbers. When the PDRA visited the track in 2014, the racer and spectator turnout was incredible, so the Southern Extreme Nationals is expected to be an even bigger show.
The pro categories at the Southern Extreme Nationals will be looking to lay down some impressive passes all weekend in qualifying and eliminations. Racers in the Pro Boost category will be using boosted combinations that include roots blowers and turbos that will be running well into the 3.70s in the 215 mph range. The Pro Nitrous class is comprised of the world’s quickest nitrous-assisted cars and has some of the closest racing in all of Pro Modified. The kings of the PDRA are the cars in the Pro Extreme class with the baddest rides on the property, with competitors looking to dip into the 3.40s with their turbo and screw-blown hot rods.
Besides the pro classes, the Southern Extreme Nationals will also feature the Extreme Pro Stock category and see the debut of the Elite 16 Top Sportsman class. The Elite 16 Top Sportsman cars are the quickest in the Top Sportsman ranks and will be pushing their cars to the ragged edge. Extreme Pro Stock will show off the big-cubic-inch factory hot rods and give the fans some close racing to enjoy.
To help entertain the big crowds expected, the PDRA is also planning to have an array of jet cars, wheelstanders, and special grudge racing between the competitors. For the racers who are looking to be a part of the event but don’t have a heads-up car, they can participate in the PDRA’s Bracket Bash portion of the event. There will also be a manufactures midway full of great companies offering products racers and fans will want to check out.
