NHRA: Race Recap from Dallas. Doug Kalitta charged into title contention with his win over Shawn Langdon on Sunday at the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex near Dallas. The win was Kalitta’s first since 2010. In Funny Car, Cruz Pedregon turned back longtime nemesis John Force in the final round, 4.10 to 4.22, while Jason Line used a close final round defeat of Shane Gray to move into the points lead in Pro Stock. And reigning Pro Stock Motorcycle champ Eddie Krawiec, quiet for much of the season, scored his first win of the year and made it back-to-back wins for the Harley-Davidson team, defeating Matt Smith on a holeshot in the final. NHRA Northern SPORTSNationals: David Billingsley edged out a close final round win over Chuck Haubiel in his L/AA Oldsmobile to lead the winners at the JEG’S NHRA Northern SPORTSNationals at the National Trail Raceway near Columbus over the weekend. He was joined by Stephen Belanger, who strapped an .023 package on Kenny Schindler in the Super Stock final, Stock winner Chuck Beach, and a host of other champions. International Pro Mod Challenge: Newly crowned PMRA Pro Modified champion Rocky DiLecce scored the inaugural International Pro Mod Challenge victory at the Maryland International Raceway over the weekend, defeating fellow Canadian Bruce Boland in the final round. NHRA Division 1 ET Finals: The Numida Dragway in Pennsylvania hosted the NHRA Northeast Division ET Finals over the weekend, where Mike Argoe (Super Pro), Ray Whitehead (Pro), Scott Smith (Sportsman), Mathew Ricchezza (High School), and Dale Hamilton (Pro Bike) were crowned champions. NHRA Division 7 ET Finals: Jesse Adams (Super Pro), Max Tafoya Jr. (Pro), C.W. Hoefer (Sportsman), and Aaron Pine (Bike/Sled) led the winners at the NHRA Pacific Division ET Finals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. IHRA Division 9: Wesley Washington Jr. was .001 on the tree in the Top Dragster finale at the Raiders Division 9 tour event at the Farmington Dragway in North Carolina on Sunday, but it didn’t matter, as opponent Brian Thompson was .006 too quick on the tree. Donny Urban scored the day two Top Sportsman title, putting together a dead-on 4.56-second pass paired with an .017 reaction time to edge out Mike White in the final.
