NHRA: Race Recap from Sonoma. Shawn Langdon scored his fourth Top Fuel win of the season and did it by overcoming his former teammate, Morgan Lucas, on Sunday at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals at Northern California’s Sonoma Raceway. Ron Capps walked away victorious in Funny Car after a close holeshot-aided victory in the final round against John Force, 4.08 to a quicker 4.07. In Pro Stock, Vincent Nobile kept the train running for the Mopar contingent, defeating fellow Dodge runner Jeg Coughlin Jr. in the final round, while Hector Arana Jr. nabbed his fourth win of the season with a close holeshot defeat of Matt Smith. X-DRL: Race Recap from Budds Creek. Pro X-Treme No. 1 qualifier Frankie Taylor squared off with Terry Leggett in the rain-delayed final round at the X-DRL Mayhem at the Creek at the Maryland International Raceway on Sunday, with Taylor claiming the win with a stellar 3.61-second lap. Bob Rahaim earned his second Pro Nitrous win in a row, defeating Danny Perry in a quick final round matchup 3.82 to 3.83. Cary Goforth earned the victory in X-Treme Pro Stock as opponent John DeFlorina Jr. rattled the tires and lifted early, and Mo Hall won the very first X-DRL Outlaw 10.5 race, running 4.17 in the final after opponent Jarry Buck Jarvis timed out at the starting line. NHRDA: Jared Jones (Top Diesel) and Wade Moody (Pro Stock) led the winners list at the NHRDA’s Carolina Diesel Nationals at the Rockingham Dragway over the weekend. Darren Morrison won Pro Street with his ’97 Dodge pickup, running a 9.45 in the final, while Tim Burchette scored the Super Street title in his GMC.
