NMCA: Race Recap here on DRAGZINE. After recording the quickest lap in NMCA Pro Street history during qualifying, Bill Lutz put an exclamation point on the weekend by taking a decisive win in the category over Jeff Lutz as the series returned to the always quick Maryland International Raceway over the weekend. Reigning class champ Mike Murillo overcame a stout group of challengers for the Super Street 10.5W title, while Tennessee chassis builder Darren Breaud claimed Nostalgia Pro Street honors in his GTO. Jason Lee and Bob Kurgan, both with bounties on their heads in Maryland, fell short of victory lane as Dan Kroll (275 Drag Radial) and Phil Smith (Xtreme Street) scored wins. NHRA Division 3: Perennial Top Alcohol Dragster favorite Bill Reichert racked up another North Central Division series win on Sunday when defeated Dave Heitzman in the final round at the Lucas Oil Series Burndown at Sundown at the Route 66 Raceway near Chicago. Top Alcohol Funny Car winner Mickey Ferro joined Reichert in victory lane after he defeated Chris Foster on a holeshot, 5.70 to 5.68. In Competition Eliminator, Rick Brown sawed down the tree on opponent Jason Coan and needed only a -0.503 8.27 from his B/TA to score the win. NHRA Division 7: Justin Lamb drove his F/SMA to the Competition Eliminator crown at the Top Gun Raceway in Fallon, Nev. on Sunday, running further under the index to turn back Randy Jones and his C/TA in the final. Lamb scored a double-up on the weekend, also winning in Super Gas. Joe Roubicek scored in Top Dragster, while Richard Okerman did likewise in Top Sportsman. IHRA Division 2: C.V. Tapp scored the Top Dragster crown on Saturday at the IHRA Division 2 Pro-Am event at the Carolina Dragway, taking the win at the stripe as both he and opponent Steve Dweck were .008 on the tree. Donny Urban won Top Sportsman on both ends of the racetrack over Tim West, and Michael Beard won Super Stock when Richard Mace couldn’t quite run the number in the final.
