Missouri native Jason Hoard’s first-generation Camaro was a great car, but it just wasn’t optimized for high-level small tire racing. So, when Jason has the opportunity to build a new ride that incorporated the latest small tire chassis tech, he was all in. Jason’s minty fresh 2014 Z06 Corvette is a race car pretending to be a show car.
You can make all the horsepower in the world, but if you’re race car is overweight, it won’t do much good. Jason’s Camaro had plenty of weight removed, but it just wasn’t going to be enough to make the car a solid player in the no time world.
“I sold the Camaro as a roller. It was a real car, the thing still had a headliner in it. There was just so much weight in the car. All that OEM A-pillar metal, the hinged deck lid, and everything else just really added up. I knew if we wanted to be a competitive no time team, we needed a lightweight car,” explained Jason.
The team at Beilman Fabrication had already started building this Corvette for another customer, and Jason worked with them to take the project over. Beilman Fabrication has been Jason’s shop of choice for over three decades, so he knew what they were capable of building with the right parts. The Corvette still has its factory roof, quarter panels, and even the OEM sill plates can be found in the door jambs of the car.
Beilman Fabrication built a state-of-the-art double frame rail chassis for the Corvette. In the rear, the suspension is highlighted by a custom full floater rearend that Bielman built in-house, as well as a set of Menscer Motorsports shocks. Up front, you’ll find more custom Bielman components and another set of Menscer shocks. A set of WELD Wheels are home to the TBM brakes that bring the Corvette to a stop, along with the Mickey Thompson tires. MADD Graphics created all of the stickers for the car.
Designed Performance took a collection of Brad Anderson parts and created a killer Hemi for Jason’s Corvette. The 521 cubic-inch mill is fed boost by a pair of HPT 94mm turbos, and that boost is controlled by Turbosmart products. Behind the engine, you’ll find an M&M Transmission that Jason shifts with a Motion Raceworks shifter. A Circle D torque converter rounds out the driveline parts. Michael Kurt Bunton wired up all of the FuelTech components that run the car.
The Corvette also pays tribute to Jason’s late father, who also owned a C7 Corvette. Jason had shown pictures of the Corvette to his dad and he was excited to see the project move along. Unfortunately, Jason’s father passed away before he could see the car in person, so Jason had it painted white to match the car he owned. The Corvette has only made a handful of passes so far, but Jason says it’s already going quicker and faster than the Camaro ever did.
Jason plans on running the Corvette in any no time event where it fits the rules. The Corvette will also see some no prep action as well.
This new Corvette is a step up for Jason. The white paint and low stance make for a great combination and give the Corvette that perfect race car look. Don’t be surprised when you see Jason start popping up in winner’s circle pictures with this car, it’s going to be fast for sure.
