If you plan on wiring a race car yourself it’s important to make sure you have all the right parts to start the project. Altronics created its PowerQuest touch screen control system to not only make wiring a race car easier, but also give you the ability to add a custom touch to your switch panel setup.
The PowerQuest is a standalone switch system that eliminates the need to use mechanical rocker switches, and it allows you to customize what each button on your switch panel does. You have the ability to even set up time delays that will activate your fuel pump and ignition after you hit the start button.
Fred Bartoli from Altronics talks about what makes the PowerQuest such a versatile wiring solution for a race car.
“Each PowerQuest channel can be custom configured to set a fuse level, it’s all solid-state fused so there’s no external relay’s needed. Everything wires into the module. Your fan and water pump can run off a temperature sensor and activate automatically. It features a lock screen so you can put the unit to sleep. You can set switches set for momentary or flash if that’s what you need.”
The PowerQuest’s solid state fuse can be set from 1-30 amps for each channel, which will save you from having to replace blown fuses all the time. If the eight channels offered by a single PowerQuest module aren’t enough, you can add another module to give you 16 total channels. The PowerQuest is set up through the touch screen display, so you don’t need to worry about using a laptop to make changes to the system.
