Race cars are dynamic vehicles that have numerous parts that can be tuned, the torque converter, in particular, is something that can be tuned, and make a big difference in on-track performance. FTI Performance has a new bolt-together torque converter called the Gen 3 XPM that will give racers a way to customize the torque converter to fit their exact combination.

The Gen 3 XPM torque converters are CNC-machined and use interchangeable parts that make adjusting the converter fairly simple. FTI has created multiple billet stator options that work well for naturally aspirated, boosted, and nitrous engine combinations. The Gen 3 XPM torque converter has a front cover that will work with any flex plate, plus, the turbines are available with splines that fit Lenco, GM, and Ford transmissions. You can even change the Gen 3 XPM from a 9” to a 10” torque converter with the right parts from FTI. The converter will also fit up to 1” thick block plates without having to change the cover.

Greg Samuel is the Chief Technical Officer at FTI Performance, he explains why FTI designed this new converter for the drag racing market.

“The industry needs technology that the end-user can capitalize on without the help of a freight truck. This converter gives them what they need and how they need it. The Gen 3 XPM converter allows interchangeability as well as tunability beyond any other converter available.”
