2nd Annual Shakedown Palm Beach Cancelled For 2012

Last spring, David Hance, promoter of the Shakedown at E’Town and a popular and accomplished racer in his own right, expanded the Shakedown brand by spinning the event off into an early season version for the racers from the south, contesting the inaugural Shakedown Palm Beach at the Palm Beach International Raceway in Florida.

Unfortunately, despite the first event’s considerable success in drawing some impressive competition, Hance has been unable to secure the necessary sponsorship to continue the Shakedown at Palm Beach in 2012, announcing over the weekend that the event has been cancelled indefinitely. Hance indicated in a prepared statement on the Shakedown at E’Town website that although off the table for 2012, a future sister race at PBIR or elsewhere is plausible if funding can be secured.

“It is with great disappointment I must report we will not be conducting a second Shakedown event at PBIR during the 2012 year, said Hance. “We apologize to all of our fans, racers, and sponsors who were looking forward to the 2012 event. We had a wonderful event in March of 2011 and we thank our partners at PBIR, the media, and all others who worked so hard on the race for the wonderful job they did in 2011. Perhaps the day will come when we are able to secure the necessary sponsorships and the time it takes to host a first-class. heads-up event. We would love to host an event at PBIR at some future time. Please note the 10th Annual Shakedown at E’town event is scheduled for Oct 12-14 at Raceway Park, Englishtown, NJ. Our Shakedown staff and the entire E’town staff will work hard to make our 10th event the best ever! Thank you all for your past and continued support.”
