Drafting street racers from the popular show Street Outlaws to appear or race at events is becoming a big draw for fans, as racing organizations, not immune to their popularity, have enlisted these primetime stars to help fill the stands at many events.
As larger purse amounts are used to draw out the fastest racers or those trying to make a name for themselves on prepped and no-prep surfaces, it is not unusual to vie for prizes in the tens of thousands, including the Bounty Hunters No-Prep Grudge Nationals race March 11-12 at San Antonio Raceway. These big payouts have enticed renowned racers to make the trek across the country to compete, and now an all-new event has marched onto the scene featuring not only a large purse, but some of racing’s biggest stars.

American Outlaw Live, an invitational main event sponsored by Scoggin-Dickey, is turning the racing world on its head with its $75,000 Big Tire main event pot and $25,000 for Small Tire to be run at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas. The race, promoted by Over Kill Motorsports’ Mitchell Clary and sportsman racing stars Britt and Slate Cummings, will be graced by many of the stars of the Discovery Channel’s hit reality show.
“Our goal with this organization and in particular this event is to change the perception of racing on a couple levels,” explained Over Kill Motorsports Mitch Clary. “We want to show ‘Outlaw’ racing fans that taking these events off the street and onto the race track doesn’t take away one bit of the excitement or entertainment of the show. At the same time, we want to show diehard race fans that just because these big name competitors aren’t racing in Top Fuel or Pro Stock doesn’t mean they don’t have incredible equipment, along with talent and passion that is shared by racers across the world. Bringing this event to the Texas Motorplex combines some of the biggest names in racing today and one of the most fabled facilities in racing history. And we’ll do it all in a safe, family friendly environment. It’s going to be one helluva show.”
According to the folks at Scoggin-Dickey, the Ennis event will be the first of many of its kind around the country, serving as perhaps the first true national series of no prep-style racing, giving fans a look at the stars of Street Outlaws right in their own backyards.
