Stuart Henry is making every gear head’s dream come true – racing in all of the major events in which his car is legal for competition. Not to mention, doing it in a different country.
At this very moment, Stuart’s 1970 Ford Capri MK1 is on a containership crossing over the Pacific Ocean, destined to be stateside on February 22, 2015. The car was supposed to already be stateside but due to some holdups, its arrival date has been pushed back. The goal was to debut the Australian-based drag radial car at the season-opening blowout Duck X Productions: Lights Out 6 at South Georgia Motorsports Park. With the car destined to arrive as that event ends, Stuart’s goal is now to make the Outlaw Street Car Reunion II in late March in Memphis, TN.

Stuart’s Capri is packing a huge punch under the hood with a Sunset BBC packing some Nitrous Outlet nitrous oxide with a crisp tune from Kevin Neal at NPI, as can be seen with the clean candles coming out from under the car.
Henry’s car is definitely something that we don’t see normally turned into a race car, here in the states. We’ve gotten used to seeing the norm – Camaros, Mustangs, Novas, Corvettes and the few differences in between. Henry has turned his Capri MK1 from mild to wild with numerous suspension updates including custom-tuned shocks holding up the Pro 275 Drag Radials from Mickey Thompson Tires and Wheels.
Going under the hood, this definitely isn’t your grandma’s Capri! Packing a Big Block Chevrolet built by Sunset Performance, this little Ford can move down the eighth-mile in a hurry. But he wasn’t done. With the help of Nitrous Outlet and a custom tune by Kevin Neal from Neal Performance Innovations, Stuart Henry has one of the fastest 275 Drag Radial cars in Australia.
In our numerous talks with Stuart, we spoke about this trip and more. When asked how many races he planned on running while in the United States, Stuart quickly replied with, “The car doesn’t have a return ticket home. I will do as many races as I can afford flights,” followed by a smile. The plan is to hit numerous events and do a full schedule in the month of September including the Yellow Bullet Nationals, Shakedown at the Summit and the final Duck X Productions event for 2015, No Mercy 6.
Stuart wanted to send out a heartfelt thank you to the following companies and people because without them, this “Radial Tour,” couldn’t happen – Kevin (Neal Performance Innovations), Jason (VP Racing Fuels), Kenny and Lane (PTC), Dave (Nitrous Outlet), Mike and Todd (TRZ Motorsports),Mark (Menscer Motorsports) along with Tommy and Buddy (Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels).
We will be following the trip that should be very exciting for Stuart and all of his Australian friends making the trip with him, along with all of the racers and fans of drag radial racing.
