DRAGZINE has been following along with the buildup of a brand new beast for Super Street and Outlaw 10.5 competitor Bill Lutz since it was little more than a rendering late last year, and last weekend, Lutz was finally able to enjoy to the fruits of his labor by mashing the loud pedal for some shakedown runs at the Milan Dragway.
As with any new race car, the maiden voyage wasn’t without its hiccups, as Lutz and crew had a six-hour thrash at the track to sort out issues with the boost controller and injectors before hitting the track later in the evening. Three shots at the Milan racing surface netted three tire-shaking efforts, but nonetheless, the new venture is well on its way to hauling ass and Lutz is confident he’ll have it blasting through the traps in short order.
The new ride, a 1969 Camaro based upon a lightweight Cynergy Composites carbon fiber body, is motivated by a twin-tubocharged HEMI powerplant, very similar to that found in his ’67 Camaro Super Street car. It will soon receive a wrap in his familiar white and purple scheme, as well.
Lutz and company intend on returning to Milan again this Friday night, with Norwalk’s Night Under Fire Quick 8 and the King of Columbus event at National Trail Raceway in Columbus. So if you happen to be in the area, head over and check out this killer piece up close and personal. Until then, enjoy the photos of Bill’s incredible new Camaro.
