There’s a new record holder in the radial tire world and his name is Barry Mitchell. The record was owned by Steve Jackson behind the wheel of Jeff Sittion’s Pro Nitrous Camaro with a 3.75 set at Denton last year. The radial tire world could be turned upside down this weekend if Mitchell and others continue with these types of low three-second passes.
During testing at the U.S. Street Nationals at Bradenton Motorsports Park Mitchell lowered the boom on the record with a 3.748 at 197.45 mph. Mitchell debuted his record-setting Camaro at No Mercy 7 this past October and went some rounds in the Radial vs The World field. Mitchell was battling some serious wheelstand issues earlier this week in testing but now seems to have the blown Camaro dialed in.
Weather conditions are supposed to be improving this weekend so it’s possible that Mitchell could go even faster. Could this be the weekend where we see a radial tire car run in the 3.60s? Stay tuned to Dragzine for more on this outstanding run and watch all the action at the U.S. Street Nationals right here on SpeedVideo.com, you could see history made again!
