David Pearson Sends Message On 275s: 4.11 With A 1.01 Sixty Foot!

Pearson3David Pearson has resided atop the Outlaw 275 performance world for quite some time now. Though he has been briefly dethroned at times, he doesn’t take kindly to being outrun, and ups the performance from his blown Mustang to reclaim his crown.

Though this particular pass was made in testing, the wide-open world of Outlaw 275 isn’t going to offer much in the way of restrictions to slow Pearson in competition. Yes, you read those numbers in the title correctly: Pearson went to Mooresville Dragway and blasted off a 4.11 with a 1.01 sixty foot!

To put that in perspective, when Brad Edwards ripped off the first three-second pass on radials last fall, he ran 3.99 with a 1.04 short time, and later ran a 1.01 to the sixty on a 3.94 blast in testing. Of course, Pearson doesn’t have 555 cubic inches and twin 94mm turbochargers, but it’s safe to say he’s making some SERIOUS steam with his ProCharged small block Ford powerplant.

Pearson is running the same 400-inch mill from Bullet Racing Engines – the one that propelled him to the current Outlaw 275 record of 4.16 – to motivate his UPR Suspension-equipped Fox body to these mind-bending numbers. The beautiful calypso green coupe features a Neal Chance Racing Converters stall mated to a Proformance Racing Transmissions unit that sends power rearward to Mickey Thompson beadlock rear wheels wrapped in MT’s 275 Drag Radial.

11063208_970935539607275_905715991_nJosh Addison Paint and Body keeps the ‘Stang looking every bit as good as it is fast, while David’s wife Tracy handles the tuning. Deron Lowery is the team’s crew chief, working alongside the legendary “Mustang Mike” Modeste to help extract the maximum performance from this wicked hot rod. The team also relies on sponsorship from Wiseco Pistons and ProCharger to keep the engine pumping out the horsepower, Teddy Houser Race Cars to keep the chassis in perfect working order, and Mark Menscer and Menscer Motorsports’ killer shocks to keep the 275’s planted.

Look for this team to really turn up the wick in the coming weeks, with a great shot at dipping into the 4.0’s coming at the Outlaw Street Car Reunion in Memphis, just around the corner. Thanks to YouTuber trashboy1813 for the video!
