eBay Find: Outlaw 10.5 Camaro Scale Model Looks Like The Real Deal!

A past time of numerous race fans are collectible model cars built to a smaller scale and with familiar paint schemes as their favorite drivers on the professional level of all motorsports. One of the hottest off-season activities going these days is slot car racing and building near-exact replicas of their personal cars that are being raced during the season on tracks across the nation. As the slot car craze has become more popular, the stand-alone collectible and model car market has slowed from what it once was.

s-l1600-3But if you’re into the scale model hobby, we’ve found a piece for you on eBay: a professionally-built 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, modeled after an Outlaw 10.5 car. At first glance, the car looks to be the real thing with it’s slick paint scheme, realistic wheels and details, like wheelie bars, parachutes and decals.

After looking through more photos, under the hood revealed more extravagant engine details — spark plug wires, nitrous solenoids, fender exit headers with custom-built bullhorns, and even realistic wiring. After removing the doors, unveiling the interior, the builder went into more detail with the wood grain steering wheel and Racepak Data Systems digital dash piece tucked neatly among the roll cage, matching the actual car that ran on track for years. s-l1600-2

The model was built by combining two model kits, along with a lot of scratch-built, resin and photo-etched parts. One thing that stood out to us was in the item description, it was stated that the build of this detailed Camaro took nine months!

The Augusta, Georgia-based collectible car artist has other models for sale, including two 1969 Chevrolet Camaros, one modeled after a Pro Mod and a pick-up truck.
