The Texas Pro Stock Association, an eighth mile doorslammer series with engines smaller than 585 cubic inches and requiring cast intakes, single four-barrel carburetors and readily available cylinder heads, is considered to be the ultimate class for conventional port Big Block Chevy racing. And that makes it the perfect venue for companies like Edelbrock to put their components to the test in the research and development process.
At a recent event in Dallas, Texas Pro Stock regulars Richard Otwell and Rick Cowger showed just what the Edelbrock Super Victor 632 could do, as Otwell qualified #1 and won the event, while Cowger set the new series elapsed time record at 4.527 seconds. Both cars utilize power from engine builders Ricky McConathy and Jeff Naiser.
In addition to Otwell and Cowger, runner-up Larry Pearce also had the Super Victor 632 aboard his mount, along with new speed record holder Joe Pigford, who blasted to a 153.79mph shot with a 632 atop his Reher-Morrison-built mill to give an indicator of just what kind of power these cars are making on conventional cylinder heads and intake manifolds.
