GM’s supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 engine is one of the most powerful mills the company has ever offered in any of its vehicles. The LT4 makes a tire-shredding 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque from the factory, and Fluidampr has a new damper that’s a direct fit for the LT4 that will protect the engine, and allow users to crank up the horsepower even more.
Torsional vibration can easily damage a crankshaft, and a harmonic balancer’s job is to prevent this from happening. The harmonic balancer that comes on your engine from the factory is designed to deal with a certain amount of horsepower — anything above that and it can’t do its job. An engine like the LT4 can really put a balancer through its paces, so upgrading to a Fluidampr can add peace of mind and extend the life of the engine.
Fluidampr put a lot of thought into the design of the damper it created for the LT4 engine. The damper has a pulley that bolts to the front for the supercharger belt, and one on the rear for the vehicle’s air conditioning. Fluidampr made the crankshaft hub replaceable so the damper can be serviced if needed. Each pulley and the crankshaft hub is fastened to the damper itself with high-quality fasteners. Fluidampr’s LT4 damper is SFI 18.1 certified, too.
If you have a stock LT4 engine and are thinking about adding some horsepower you’ll want to put this damper from Fluidampr on your shopping list. You can learn more about this product right here on Fluidampr’s website.
