Do you want to save another drag strip? The former Marion County International Raceway (MCIR) is up for sale yet again. This track has changed hands several times over the last decade, and could be brought back to life for the public to enjoy again.
MCIR was listed for sale in 2013, 2018, and then in 2021. The creators from the Triple F Collection YouTube page are the current owners of the track. After they purchased the facility, almost all of the buildings on the property were demolished and the track was partially repaved. However, there were many in the local racing community that were upset the facility was no longer open to the public after these changes were made.
Now the track is for sale again, according to a listing by Scutti Enterprises Inc. The track is being sold as a commercial site with all 36.27 acres available as part of the purchase. There are only a handful of buildings left on the property, so it really is a blank canvas that can be turned into a new facility. Currently, there are no guardrails or scoreboards on the track, and it would need a new tower.
If you’re interested in owning an updated piece of drag racing history and want to bring this track back, the listing is here. You’d be a local hero for sure, because there are plenty of racers itching for the chance to make a pass at their beloved MCIR once again. Dragzine will continue to follow this story and see if MCIR is brought back to life.
