Former NMCA N/A 10.5 Racers Form Small Tire Pro Stock Group For 2025

In the wake of the NMCA’s dissolution, racers in the popular small-tire, naturally aspirated N/A 10.5 category found themselves without a place to compete. In response, the class’s racers, including veteran competitor Rick Riccardi, have formed a new group known as Small Tire Pro Stock, a new grassroots group they plan to promote to various racing organizations in 2025. The group aims to showcase naturally aspirated, small-block, and big-block-powered cars in a heads-up, competitive format with a unique twist on traditional Pro Stock.

Riccardi explained the situation and the motivation for the new group. “With NMCA gone, the N/A 10.5 class has nowhere to call home,” he said. “Our class follows the NHRA Pro Stock guidelines, but with key differences, like cubic inch limits and no tube chassis. We run real 10.5 slicks, no major engine restrictions, and we require a 96-inch minimum wheelbase. It’s Pro Stock with a small-tire twist.”

The initiative began with a Zoom call led by racer Dwight Ausmus, where current and past N/A 10.5 racers discussed their options. The result was unanimous: they would establish themselves as Small Tire Pro Stock, preserving the N/A 10.5 rules while exploring potential partnerships with various venues. Racers, including Riccardi, have already reached out to organizations such as PDRA and NHRA to secure exhibition spots. Maple Grove Raceway has expressed interest, offering to host two events as exhibitions during NHRA events. Milan Dragway and Tom Bailey’s SICK events are also in consideration for 2025.

“We want to create a consistent, six-race series that doesn’t interfere with racers’ schedules or commitments,” Riccardi said. “It’s important to keep our rules intact for now while we establish a new foundation. Once we have a home, we can reassess, but the focus is on getting back on track and finding venues that will allow us to race.”

The group has launched a Facebook page and scheduled regular Zoom meetings, where racers will share updates and collaboratively build support for the class. Riccardi and others are committed to weekly updates, featuring drivers to raise awareness of Small Tire Pro Stock and its legacy from N/A 10.5. With contingency sponsors and payouts still under development, the group’s 2025 goal is simple: create a lasting home for this unique category of racers, showcasing their dedication to true small-tire, heads-up racing.

Two other popular former NMCA eliminators, Factory Super Cars and Nostalgia Super Stock, have also independently pushed forward with new plans for 2025, each landing with existing organizations to continue their successful heritage.
