Former Street Outlaws star John Odom’s legal troubles continue to grow. Odom has been noticeably absent from the No Prep Kings tour, and drag racing in general during the 2024 season. Odom was recently in the Ada County jail in Idaho and is now named in a lawsuit in Las Vegas over the death of a guest at a party he hosted.
According to the lawsuit, in 2023 Odom hosted a Halloween party at Resorts World in Las Vegas, Nevada to celebrate a sponsorship for the screw-blown GTR he raced. According to police reports, Dan Rodimer, a former Republican congressional candidate and professional wrestler was involved in an assault on Christopher Tapp. Tapp died during the fight, and his mother, Vera Tapp, filed a lawsuit against Odom and several others.
In the suit, it’s alleged that Odom ordered people at the party not to alert hotel security or the police about the fight, before he left. Eventually, medical personnel arrived and took Tapp to the hospital, where he later died. Tapp’s death was ruled a homicide by the Clark County Corner due to brain bleeds that were the result of blunt trauma to the head.
We reached out to John Odom for comment, who upholds that he was not even at the party in question nor was he questioned by the police. While the death was tragic, he feels being named in the lawsuit was simply a mistake.
Odom has also had several judgments levied against him for business dealings and failure to pay racing vendors for parts. It’s also alleged that Odom owes several racers for side bets made at events. Odom was serving time in the Ada County jail for Contempt of Court-Civil/Criminal Sanction (Out of Court) with no option for bail for owing $60,000 in alimony.
