The IHRA is gearing up for its 2025 racing season and has released information about its Outlaw Nitro Series. There will be five races total and plenty of classes at each event, racing for competitive purses.
There has been speculation about what the IHRA was going to do with its schedule, and now we have some answers. The professional classes will include: Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Mountain Motor Pro Stock, Pro Mod, Pro Nitrous, and Outlaw Snowmobiles. On the sportsman side, you can expect to see Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Top Fuel Harley, the John Hold Hemi Shootout, Stock, Super Stock, Factory Stock, Quick Rod, Super Rod, and Hot Rod.
Here are the dates and locations for the 2025 Outlaw Nitro Series:
July 9th-12th National Trail Raceway
July 23rd-26th Milan Dragway
September 3rd-6th National Trail Raceway
September 24th-27th Dragway 42
November 5th-8th GALOT Motorsports Park.
The IHRA has laid out some very nice purses for the professional nitro classes. The winner gets $50,000, the runner up gets $25,000, semifinalists pocket $20,000, and first round will pay $15,000. The 9th-12th non-qualifiers each get $7,500. These are all eight-car fields, so that’s good money for fewer rounds of work.
It will be interesting to see what nitro teams dip their toes in the IHRA pool. There are plenty of smaller teams that will line up to get a chance to run for this kind of money and get some testing in as well.
