The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) has made the call that nobody wanted to make. The IHRA Triple Crown event scheduled for May 22-24 at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pennsylvania, has been postponed, with a rain-soaked forecast for the entire weekend leaving officials no viable path to delivering the full event experience racers and fans were expecting.
IHRA officials announced the postponement today after reviewing the latest weather projections and weighing the impact across the board for competitors, spectators, track crews, and event operations staff. Rather than roll the dice and potentially strand thousands of people in the middle of a weather-compromised race weekend, the organization opted to pull the plug early and work toward finding a replacement date on the calendar.
Beyond the racing itself, the weekend was loaded with off-track programming that made this feel more like a full-scale motorsports festival than a standard race weekend. A pit party, a concert headlined by country stars Jake Owen and Dwight Yoakam, and a “Bulls & Burnouts” event featuring bull riding, bull games, and freestyle bull fighting were all on the docket.

IHRA officials addressed the postponement directly, making clear that the choice, while difficult, was the right one given the circumstances.
“While this is never the decision we want to make, we believe it is the right one for our racers, fans, partners, and everyone involved in producing this event,” IHRA officials said. “The forecast gives us little confidence that we could deliver the full Triple Crown experience that racers and fans deserve. Rather than ask everyone to travel and invest in a weekend facing significant weather challenges, we felt it was best to make this decision proactively.”
The IHRA is actively working with Maple Grove Raceway and its event partners to lock in a rescheduled date. Specifics around ticketing, racer entries, and the full weekend activity lineup will be communicated through official IHRA channels as details are confirmed.

“We appreciate the patience and support of our racers, fans, sponsors, vendors, and the Maple Grove Raceway team,” IHRA officials added. “The excitement surrounding the Triple Crown has been tremendous, and our goal remains to deliver the kind of high-level, full-scale event this program was built to showcase. Even though we have a full schedule of activities planned, we are working on rescheduling this race into our schedule so that this date merges into a smooth program.”
The Triple Crown concept has clearly generated real buzz heading into the 2025 season. The combination of elite professional drag racing across five categories, a massive bonus program, and destination-level entertainment was a formula designed to put the IHRA back on the radar in a significant way.
