With brand new 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Pro Modified, Pro Stock, and Top Sportsman cars rolling out of chassis shops seemingly at a quicker rate than the real deal is being mass-produced at the GM plant, it’s almost a bit refreshing to see something else. Even if that something else is overly played-out in its own right.
Chassis builder Robert Hayes recently put the finishing touches on another sleek Pro Modified machine, referred to as a 1968 Warbird, that marks one of the newest lightweight racers on the block. The sleek new Firebird is owned by Bob Harris and Jason Harris, and will be campaigned in the EOPM Series, the Big Dog Series, six ADRL national events, and two of Mike Hill’s doorslammer showdowns.
“This is one of the finest Pro Mod Race Cars that I have ever bought or seen,” said Bob Harris owner of The Warbird and Team Owner of Jason Harris Racing.
Providing the motivation for the lightweight and technologically advanced ’68 Warbird is a monstrous 864 cubic inch bullet prepared by Bill Albert Racing Engines fed by four stages if nitrous oxide injection. A Bruno transmission will transfer the power. The paintwork, meanwhile, was finished by Terry Davis in Virginia and airbrushed by Chad McQuerry out of North Carolina. According to Hayes, the machine has more than 1,000 man hours involved in its construction and completion.
“I’m so excited and ready to get back in the seat and ride,” said Jason Harris, driver of the Warbird.
