Keith Berry Grabs Inaugural NMCA Radial Wars Championship

After coming off a disappointing red-light in the first round of eliminations at No Mercy V in South Georgia just two weeks ago, Keith Berry turned his sights on the next race on his schedule – the NMCA World Finals at Lucas Oil Dragway in Indianapolis, Indiana — where he and a shot to sow up the points title.

Berry is one of the biggest names in Drag Radial racing today, often known for his bold statements and callouts on various racing forums and social media outlets. His stand-out personality has led him to be a fan favorite anywhere the “Wooo! Machine” rolls through the gates.

DSC_2028After qualifying in Indy, Berry stood in the No. 2 qualifying position with a 4.18 elapsed time at over 183 miles per hour with his ProLine Racing-powered Chevrolet Corvette. With the strong qualifying effort, Berry looked like he was ready to run the table and secure himself the inaugural World Championship in the NMCA’s hottest new class, Mickey Thompson Radial Wars. In typical Berry fashion, he threw down low ET of the season so far with a 4.11 in the semi-finals, he went all the way to the final round to face Drag Radial juggernaut, DeWayne “Big Daddy” Mills in his ’68 Camaro, codenamed “The Golden Gorilla.”

Berry came up short for the event win as Mills set the NMCA Radial Wars class record at a 4.08 second blast in route to another victory for the Oklahoma-based team. Mills may have won the battle but Berry won the war, taking home the coveted championship that he has been chasing all season long.

In talks with Keith, he would like to thank the following companies for sticking behind him and helping him end the season as NMCA Champion – Bell Chassisworks, ProLine Racing Engines, FuelTech, ProTorque, VP Racing Fuels and Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels. He also would like to thank Joey Bell, Ryan Rakestraw, Papa Rakestraw, Jamie Miller and Eric Dillard for their continued support of the WOOO! Racing team.

From all of us here at Dragzine, we’d like to congratulate Keith Berry and the entire team for the NMCA Mickey Thompson Radial Wars series championship!
