What a weekend it was for Marty Chance and his entire team at Neal Chance Racing Converters, as they and their customers enjoyed an impressive collection of accolades over the course of three days at events stretching from the Northeast clear down to Louisiana and Texas.
At the PDRA’s Cajun Nationals held at the Thunder Road Raceway, Neal Chance customers literally ran the table in the eighth-mile doorslammer organizations’ three headliner categories, garnering No. 1 qualifier, winner, and runner-up honors in Pro Extreme, Pro Nitrous, and Pro Boost.
In Pro Extreme, Brandon Snider qualified atop the field with a 3.54, and in the final, it was former champ Jason Scruggs outrunning Badir Ahli in all-NCRC matchup, 3.53 to 3.57. In Pro Nitrous, Jay Cox took his bright orange Camaro to the head of the field with low ET and top speed at 3.73-seconds and 200 mph. But in the final, it was new NCRC customer Mike Castellana taking the win, defeating Tommy Franklin on a holeshot. And in Pro Boost, Gerry Capano captured his firs career PDRA victory, powering his Corvette from the No. 1 qualifying spot (3.86 at 193) to a win over Kevin Rivenbark in another all-NCRC finale, 3.80 to 3.91.
Meanwhile, at the Radial Fest, held at the Huntsville Dragway in Alabama, Rich Bruder was busy adding another trophy to his crowded shelf at home, taking X275 honors with a stout 4.45 in the final round to defeat Shane Fisher.
Elsewhere in the south, Tyler Stubbe scored another win in X275 at the North Star Dragway, in Texas, downing Mike Kelley, while in Tulsa, John Stouffer defeated Brian Barnett in an all-NCRC final round at the Texas Outlaw Pro Mod Association event.
Moving north, torque converter racer Brandon Booher outlasted a number of his fellow clutch-equipped and A/Fuel counterparts in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA North Central region Lucas Oil Series event in Indianapolis, powering his way into the final round. Booher ultimately came up just short of Mia Tedesco, setting for runner-up honors after a stellar 5.41-second run in the final.
And up north, Mike Decker Jr. stormed to the Outlaw 10.5 crown at the Cecil County Dragway Street Car Shootout in his supercharged Camaro with a 4.02 in the money round, while over at the Maryland International Raceway, Andy Manson was getting it done in NMRA Street Outlaw, driving his supercharged Mustang to a blazing 6.84 at 205 mph in the final round to down John Urist.
