Three years after legendary Bandimere Speedway’s closure, a new drag racing venue is set to open in the Denver, Colorado metro area.

The Colorado National Speedway, a long-running, NASCAR-sanctioned pavement oval speedway complex, is well underway in redeveloping a portion of its property to include an 1/8-mile dragstrip that will feature no-prep drag racing to accommodate local street car drag racing competition.

“Now this will not be your typical NHRA-style drag strip,” explains Owen anderson, the junior promoter of Colorado National Speedway. “Our drag strip will be an 1/8-mile, no prep that embodies the backcountry street racing, but in a safe and legal environment. Our drag strip will feature a full professional PortaTree system with E.T. and mile per hour readings at the 60, 330, and 660-foot mark. Beyond that we have 1,000 feet of braking distance and a fully paved return route.”

“Now our goal for this is not to take away from our amazing Saturday night NASCAR regional events,” Anderson explains. “This is being built to grow motorsports in northern Colorado, giving enthusiasts a place to come and race and go fast. While we aren’t ready to announce an official opening date just yet, that information will be coming very soon.”

The Colorado National Speedway is located in Dacano, 28 miles north of Denver city center just off I-25.
