The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) has announced its revised schedule for the SAMTech.edu (School of Automotive Machinists & Technology) NHRA Factory Stock Showdown Series, featuring eight races between July and November.
The Factory Stock Showdown category pits showroom-available race vehicles from Detroit’s “big three’ auto manufacturers — Dodge’s Drag Pak Challenger, Ford’s Mustang Cobra Jet, and Chevrolet’s COPO Camaro — in heads-up, head-to-head battle for domestic muscle car supremacy and bragging rights.
The series, originally set to begin at Gainesville in March, will now makes its season debut July 18-19 at the second of two mid-summer races at Indianapolis. Between there and its season finale at the Dodge NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas Oct. 30 – Nov. 1, these 7-second, 170 mph machines will duke it out in Atlanta (Aug. 28-30), the U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis (Sept. 3-6), Charlotte (Sept. 18-20), Gainesville (Sept. 25-27), St. Louis (Oct. 2-4), and Ennis, Texas (Oct. 16-18).
SAMTech.edu has been the title sponsor of the Factory Stock Showdown since 2016, when its was merely a four-race seres. One of the most popular classes in the sport, the SAMTech.edu Factory Stock Showdown Series crowned former Pro Stock standout Drew Skillman its champion a season ago.
