McLeod Racing President and NHRA Funny Car driver Paul Lee will compete at this weekend’s Amalie Motor Oil Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. following a surprise call from team owner Paul Richards to pilot his nitro flopper. It took Lee only a few seconds to respond “Yes!” to Richards’ offer, setting in motion Lee’s 2013 debut at the controls of the McLeod Racing/Prolong Lubricants/Boninfante Friction/Florida Brake and Truck Parts Funny Car.
This isn’t the first time the two good friends have teamed up on the race track, as Lee has driven for the family-owned operation before.
“It is good to be racing with Paul Richards and his family team again. We had success together in 2008. The team has a new car and this will be its first event. The Richards family has a long history in funny car racing, starting with Paul’s dad, Gary Richards, a long time east coast funny car racer. I’m looking forward to a fun weekend!” an excited Lee stated.
“Next to Englishtown and Maple Grove, Gainesville is one of my favorite tracks to race.” Lee stated. “I can’t wait to get there! I have many family and friends that now live in the area many of whom will be on hand throughout the weekend to cheer on our team. Gainesville has some of the biggest crowds on the NHRA circuit next to the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis. The event usually draws a standing room only crowd and I am pumped to race there again!” Lee continued.
Paul Richards Racing will welcome Lethal Performance in Wellington, Fla. to the team as part of the McLeod Racing “Dealer of the Race” program. During this week only Lethal Performance during this week only, Lethal Performance is offering 20% off all McLeod products, and 30% off McLeod Street Pro and McLeod Super Street Pro clutch kits.
