A half a century ago, the West coast was the place to be if you were a hot rodder looking to take on other hot rodders on the quarter mile and make a name for yourself. Thanks to progress and politics, that all gradually changed and drag racing on the Western frontier became a shadow of its former self. Aside from a distinct lack of tracks, things on the left coast are certainly looking brighter thanks to a number of new or expanding organizations like the Pro
Slammers Door Car Association
.

The Pro Slammers series, or PSDCA if you can remember all of those letters, was recently announced, delivering yet another exciting series to the state of California once known as the hotbed of drag racing. The new series will being together some of the finest doorslammers and Pro Modifieds on the West coast, with combinations ranging from turbochargers, nitrous oxide, and superchargers at some of the state’s premier facilities, including the Sacramento Raceway, Infineon Raceway, and historic Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield.

Per the Pro Slammers release:

Bret Williamson set a Sacramento Raceway track record in his Team Eagle Motorsports Studebaker a couple years ago and looks forward to competing for the first Pro Mod Slammers championship. The well known Renteria Brothers will also be competing with the rest of the heavy hitting teams from the west coast. Not only will fans get to see Pro Modifieds, the Pro Slammers also feature the Radical 6.90 Slammers and the 7.60 Slammers, which are both 1/4 mile index classes. The PSDCA will get their season started on March 24-25th at Famoso Raceway which is only a few weeks after the March Meet, so the weather should be great and we expect to see some good numbers from these guys.

The inaugural Pro Slammers schedule begins March 24-25 at Famoso and concludes back there in Bakersfield September 22-23, with six race dates settled in between.
