The California native joins nine other racing icons in this upcoming class, including Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Angelle Sampey. Capps started his professional career in 1995 by taking home a Top Fuel Wally. He quickly transitioned to Funny Car under Don Prudhomme and later built a dynasty with Don Schumacher Racing. Today, he holds 78 career victories and ranks second all-time in Funny Car wins. He also recently earned a spot on the NHRA Top 75 Drivers list.

“This is truly one of the greatest honors of my career,” Capps says about his selection to the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. After capturing the ’21 world championship, he took a massive leap by forming Ron Capps Motorsports. His team dominated immediately. He won five events during his debut season as an owner and secured his third world title in 2022.

Thinking about the upcoming ceremony, Capps adds: “I know when I get up there on the stage in Daytona Beach next March, it’ll all just feel so surreal.”
